injection conversion

Hello, i am new to the site and was wondering if anyone could help/offer advice. I have a le car 2 turbo and wanted to convert it to injection using a Bosch K-jetronic mechanical system, so to avoid complicated wiring. Does anyone know if this has been done, and how easy it is? Thanks

ok, having owned a turbo 2 and owning a le car 2 turbo, i'd say that it's gonna be hard to do.
firstly are you going to use a turbo 2 kjet or an rs turbo one?
2ndly have you managed to get the whole kit?
3rdly are you going to use a turbo 2 inlet manifold? - they are rare, but i'm not sure they will fit the mk1's engine bay.

Hello Sparkie, i was thinking of using the injection off of a mk1 golf 1.8 (was the plan) I havent got it yet as i wanted to see if it would work. As for the manifold, i thought i could get the original manifold modified to accept the injectors, and a mk2 golf throttle body on top? I am open to all and any suggestions. As far as i can make out the only real difference between le car and T2 is injection and intercooler, and 50 Bhp more? I appreciate any help. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine and at a good point to modify it. My target is 180Bhp.

Thanks.

you will need a warm up regulator with a vacuum connection on the bottom of it. i dont think the golf one does.

the turbo 2 uses a twin plate 180mm clutch.
what clutch are you going to use?

I`ll have to check out the golfs warm up regulator. As for the clutch, if a T2 one will fit then great, if not, was thinking Gtturbo clutch?

The gt turbo clutch will not fit. Its too big and has too many splines. The only option you have is a paddle clutch :) available from mecapart...

Did you mean this one: R5 ALPINE TURBO Drive plate cerametallic spring center Ø190mm ( 20 splines ) MP1558? :? What other mods would you suggest? I have a hybrid T3 rated at 30psi, so boost isnt a problem. :)

190mm is a rare flywheel size, you will probably have the 180mm like the rest of us. Just look for 180mm stuff. You will need a better clutch cover too.

Cheers Sparkie, Appreciate the help. I have found out the Mk2 golf warm up regulator has the vacuum connection, so if i can get my manifold modified i can run K-jet injection. :D
