Megane Inferno 3 door phase one 225

I am the thickest person I know, I've always been dim, and today I excelled myself.
I haven't touched the fat orange slag for a while, family issues.
But got back on it as I need it done, or at least back running.
New gen DMF, clutch and slave, wasn't looking forward to getting box back on, initially thought I could bench press it up and then a quick flick with my cock to seat it up nice.....never gonna happen I'm not strong enough ....
Wanging it out on a trolley jack is one thing, getting it all lined up on same ain't never gonna happen.....so here's how the Egyptian Pharos did it ......

Spent about an hour getting it built up so it all lined up and then a further two trying to get the fecker to slide in, no matter what I tried it wouldn't have it , up , down, if it doesn't slide in it ain't right, dropped it back down and have a gander............for fuck sake you dim witted fool.....
I'd primed slave and then put a blank in the feed to keep fluid in.....fookin clutch was set, so springs were well extended, slave was hitting them, hydraulic locked cos of blank....no movement , tried again and when it was an inch away I undid blank on the pipe and it slipped in a treat, two nuts on the studs and walk away.
I'm gonna get this done, paint floor, polish my tools and do fuck all else......

The gearboxes are getting to big and heavy( 6 speed etc ) to slam dunk into place . Last one I done was a 5 speed Traffic box , got to the point of no return , Lady Luck was on my side it slip in ,

Going to a great bit of kit when she’s done

I feel your pain mate, I had to get a 21 Quadra box in on my own last summer, they're about 10 stone, it was a gargantuan effort!

Couple of afternoons playing this weekend, black Friday deal got me a couple of genuine rack arms for 30 quid a chuck...IMG_20220131_143347781_HDR.jpg
Got rear sub in, faffing about lining steering UJ , I can just squeeze in drivers door....just so it took a while jacking it up and bolloxing about to get it fitted, then lower arms set to correct height and front sub on, not a fan of these bushed extension that tie to wishbones, with back bolts tight it was standing off at front, so I loosened backs to make sure I wasn't pulling anything about, when everything was sat right went to tighten UJ bolt and the fucker had come off....start again......I also over thought wishbone height using a spirit level, then realised I'd set them too low cos car is at an angle, nose up....fooking idiot, start again...

I was initially gonna get a cut from the scrapper I've been using, but the car has gone to the crusher, high S/H values seem to have left slim picking at the breakers ATM.
Job and a half getting the loop off to straighten it all up, but I went with the siege mentality and made it work.
Just as I thought I was making progress, pile of shit getting smaller I've starting doing the belts.....piles of shit again, getting on my tits how much stuff you have to strip on this to get to things, won't be getting any shiny on it, bish, bash, bosh get it built back up.....be weeks though , not a fan of cambelts on these later motors, loosen it....tighten it, check it , turn that that , loosen this......miserable old git......
Opie order in for fluids , top mount snaffled, role on spring....

The white marks of doom......

Of course shoe ain't ever gonna go in...

Aux tensioner wheel was like a hamsters wheel, cambelt isn't bad, just timed wrong, question is can I fuck it up less......

Every recent Renault and Dacia I've had, has had the cam timing out. The Clio and Logan were bad enough to affect the performance of them. They were better for go and on juice after they were done. No excuse for this other than shite system of work...

Make sure the tdc pin is in the correct hole and not a balance hole on the crank, as its easily done. The keyway on the bottom pulley should be positioned between a couple of marks on the oil pump cover and is visible once the aux pulley is off.

I've read manual a few times, I'll take my time, I did slaguna which was same as 172 with dephaser, did my fookin nut in, at least these (225) have keyed pulley , not all floating.
Get over this hurdle then it should be plain sailing.
I've gone round a few tImes feeling balance holes, and it rocking off tdc, but I'll check pump marks.

Got a price back on swivel centres, 180 quid for six, so they'll be four up for grabs, not interested in making owt on them, but I'll have spares and they'll be up for grabs subject to them being OK .
They'll be machined from EN24T forged bar.
This is for swivel drum only with the threaded centre.
No promises ATM. If you're interested just give me a nod, otherwise they'll just sit here.

@andybond @Adey @Brigsy @Big Steve - Raider shall we have these for the shop and while we're at it is it worth having a few more done?

When they land I'll check fit etc, I don't want to get a pile done and have issues.
I make no promises to anyone until they are actually in my mitts, first nod get first dibs on the first six after that I'll price higher volume .

Cambelt done thanks to @Brigsy holding my hand, tips etc, thanks .
Aux belt and tensioner done, belt was on cock eyed, one rib out on crank pulley, that fecked, there was bits of it stuck in grooves of pulley.
Had a Doh! moment, cross brace that goes on rear sub had broke it's captives , so I'd welded some new nuts on plate that slips in sub, but I'd fitted wishbones and front sub, cos that's order it has to go back in...... except captive plate for said cross brace needs to go in before wishbones.....all apart again ..
Swivel centres are taking an age due to Sheffield Pensioner Engineering Collective not having a rush in them, so I've built front end back up.
Headlights were dull and yellow, half an hour with some 1500/2500 and a mop each.

Pleased with these , one had a top tab missing so I made an Ali one and there was just enough meat left to fix it with a couple of self tappers
Swapped badge and upper strengthening moulding into new to me front bumper.
IMG_20220305_141945657_HDR.jpg
Old on right, scraped on front face, new is much better, few poor paint repairs, but I needed correct nostrils and undertray so it's a win, it's in keeping with rest of car, it'll be a ten footer......
Got sill damage out mostly with a cranked ring spanner and a long lever accessed through grommet hole, and got headlights and bumper back on.
Tomorrow I'll get new CV'S on shafts, oil and filter, whatever I can box off until I've got swivels.
Want it back on its wheels and running end of month.

Bumholes, willies and farts .......
Started fitting new shaftec outer CV'S this afternoon, all dandy till I tried to get boots fastened up, I'd notice they weren't like old ones, rubber rather than plastic , only three pleats, what I didn't do is measure them.
I had my doubts supplied clip would clear stub, so I did outer up first, not checked it yet as with outer located, there is no fookin way it's gonna stay on groove on inner, opened other box and measured them and they're 25mm shorter, pulling them makes the pleats collapse

I've emailed Shaftec , see if they reply, pointless asking vendor as no doubt they say send them back and we'll have a look, I've opened both and one is shit up in grease....
Worse case I'll get a couple of boot kits, but I didn't expect this, I checked everything else other than boot.......

Yep, I've found some febi ones at fifteen a pop, I don't know if these Shaftec kits are model specific or it's just a type of CV that matches, so boot is not actually made to fit Meg shaft.
I'm expecting a polite fuck off from them, I was gonna get skf from autodoc, but these popped up, and they were from Blighty , that'll teach me.....

I could do , but they're slightly scraggy on outer clip area, mot history shows it failing cos of clip off more than once, so people have had multiple attempts at re fixing them, I didn't cut it off cos I'm anal about saving everything......just in case....I'll clean it up proper and give it a good luck at before I spend anymore of his money.
Cheers.
