21 Turbo Head/Turbo/Inlet Upgrade

Got some new parts. I just have to wait for my alloy Crank pulley now, before getting the crank balanced.
After this I can start wrenching back together, and hopefully saving some money to buy a big Garrett;-), and a standalone.

Also...be careful with the alloy crank pulley. The OE ones are rubber damped and speaking to a few experts, Julian Godfrey engineering included, solid pulleys are not great. They recommend a new OE item.
 
Hi Dave, yeah, you can move it wherever you want;-)

I checked with some guys on the french forum, who have the alloy pulley (AX Auto Parts) on their cars, no problems until now. I will ask the guy in the machine shop to, who will balance it. If he has any doubt, I'm gonna go for a OE.

A little update on this. I got the balanced crank back (fxxxxxg expensive here if you ask me) and started building back together.

Here I had to cut new threads for the oilpump, because they were damaged...

So some progress for X-mas and hoping that the engine will make big power;-)
 

Yes, the torque is a lot higher than the original ones, but anyway thanx for the advice;-)


I'm hoping to get a number with a 4 in front;-) That should be possible, knowing that my current engine did just under 300hp with a stage 1 cam and a "small" turbo;-)
 
Inlet mani looks nice! What turbocharger are you fitting?

Looking for a gtx3076r, not sure about AR and external or internal wastegate (my downpipe is for internal but could surely be modified) I'm looking forward to get in touch with the people from turbozentrum in germany, to choose the right one for my build.

Not as good as yours, but not bad;-) (even thinking about getting a quadra again, because I doubt about getting the power on the asphalt with the fwd)

Careful with those solid bottom pulleys, the OE ones are damped for a reason. I wouldn't use one myself.
After the frenchies who use it, it's fine so far. The first guy in the machine shop told me the same as you... the one who did the balancing meant no problem... so??? I have to find out...

As I have to go to technical control every 2 years, I'm planning to have two subframes completed with 1x new engine, big brakes and coilovers, and 1x OE one, so I can change the whole lot.

Oh and let's have a look what is in these boxes;-)

I know that the color of the Wastegate is a bit gay, but I like it;-)

Now waiting for the manifold to be done.
 
Excellent! Lovely Turbo, we will have almost the same Turbo and wastegate setup :)
Yeah, I Know;-)

and that's good, as I know that you know how to use and program the Adaptronic. I'm sure that I will need your advice in the near future, as this is totally new for me...
