so, i'm trying to decide which tire size to go with for my new rims.
i think the ronal turbos look a bit to large for the R5, so the new rims are 14x6, instead of the 15x7 for the ronals.

the selection of tires is quite small, so it's either some 185x50r14 yokohama A539, or some 195x45r14 toyo proxes.
185x50 would be 0.36% larger then stock, and the 195x45 would be -1.46%.
what to choose?
i'm leaning towards 185x50.
price is the same.

Ended up ordering the Yokohamas, hopefully it will look and feel alright.
I do like the 15" ronals compared to the stock 13" rims, but from some angles they just look so comically oversized
Hoping 14" will strike the perfect balance proportionally.


i do have a question regarding the lowering though.
how do you go about adjusting the rear brake compensator?
just some random adjustment and brake testing, or is there some method to it?

i seem to remember reading it would lock the rear brakes too easily if you lowered it with out any adjustment.
not having to do any adjusting would suit me perfectly though, so i hope you are right

Went to the spring autoparts flea market.
found an awesome old metal sign, but then the starter died and i had to push the car down the slope to get it going

still driving around with a screw in the tire, but its holding air perfectly fine.
new tires were delivered today, so hopefully i'll get them changed this weekend.

yeah, i really knew i needed it in my life once i saw it.
a bit expensive, but i would have probably regretted it for years had i not bought it

What size tyres are on the Ronals? 195/45 and some lowering will make them more suited and not look too big

Current wheels are 195/45. It's just that i usually like smaller wheels.
But we'll see, i might be wrong this time, and remount the Ronals in the end

Rear compensator needs adjusting after lowering. If you leave it the compensator will assume more weight at the rear = locked up rear wheels under hard braking.

today was the day, i finally had the time to start lowering the car, and i even managed to find a parking spot close to home with enough space to work!

out with the old unknown monroe damper.


wait a minute, this doesn't seem right...
the new cobra springs were supposed to lower them only 35mm.
i didn't even need to compress them to get them in!


but it can't hurt to try, so in you go.

yeah, thats definitely more than 35mm.
look at the difference between front and rear!


pretty sure i'm gonna need some bump stops with these.
