Group buy Trackstar subscription

Hi All

I have been speaking to Trackstar about the cost of the subscription being to high for us to bother with, they have agreed to look at the prices of £144 per year or £399 for as long as you own the car, called lifetime, please note no subscription is transferable when you sell or buy the car.

To get your Trackstar checked you need to give them the last seven digits of the chassis number as all the trackstars were fitted before registaion was done, so it very unlikly that they will find you car under its reg number, my aim is to get it for £100 to £120 per year but we will need good numbers for that.

Remember although you may not need a tracker for you insurance you should be able to get a discount if you have it active, plus you have a good chance of getting back if it goes walk about.

So give some idea of the intrest levels, hopfully if we include those all ready paying we can get the same discount for the next years fee.

imoa its a waste of money every one knows about these cars there is a register selling a nicked one is unlikely breaking up for bit is a long shot if it does get nicked it will be more than foocked when recoverd save you money inmo

Again I agree with Ray on this and have thought about it myself ... The register here James would, I assume, be the place people would refer back to when buying or selling or if a car was stolen ... I think in many car and bike circles people put the word out too and often cars are 'found' ... I also think the Vee is pretty well immobilised with its stock security - I am not sure I would want mine back in a poor state if it was recovered anyway ...

Fair play to you Steve for again getting stuck in again with some research - I got short thrift a few years back from Trackstar but was told by a contact in the police that Trackstar had to activate the tracker on request if the car was reported stolen whether there was a subscription or not - though Trackstar denied this.

Trackstar actually offer lifetime for £229...i paid for it last month.

I agree, but it was worth asking.

I was thinking about was it worth it as they are so rare that only a joy rider would steal one, anyone else would have loads of trouble selling the bits or passing on a ringed car.

Also the insurance companies dont seem that bothered about it being active either best quote with tracker £311 without £371, so that only £60 would need to keep the car for 5 years to make it worthwhile.

So they need to offer it at £75 per year max which is not going to happen.

Must admit I took a slightly different view which is that anything that gives plod the best chance of catching some thieving scrote within as short a time as possible is a good thing. I agree that actually stealing a Vee isn't a good proposition in terms of being able to ring it, or even break it, but ultimately your typical toe rag who wants to break into your house and steal your keys (tho' personally mine are locked up when not in my pocket :approve isn't going to know that.

The above said, as the owner of my Vee from new I bought lifetime membership under the special offer they gave you at new and so it was hardly a big outlay for an intended many years of "cover".

Ive got a Quicksilver OMG which is a Tracker in its own right! You would here the thing being driven from the opposite side of the county on a still night!

I think Ray has a good point but its swings and roundabouts. Theives work in all kinds of strange ways. Some take the cars, drive 20 minutes down the road and park them up knowing full well they might have a tracker fitted. If the car is still there a day later they know its not got a tracker so then proceed to do what they want with it. In that case, having a tracker fitted and registered would be very worth while.

It certainly does and when some little scrotes took my parents 172 back in 2003, it was stole to order, the police told us it would be parked up within a 20 mile radius for 24 hours and if we "wanted" to go look for it we could....tossers, it didnt have a tracker fitted and was never found.

Im glad mines trackered tbh...mainly as a deterrant as if someone wanted to steal to order they would know it had one fitted, and a brief look on here would confirm mines active :approve:

I'm not convinced by Trackstar. I paid for the lifetime subscription and shortly after my car was put on a trailer and taken to a garage. I was expecting a call from them to tell me was I aware my car was moving without the engine being started.....but nothing. I later phoned Trackstar and they informed me they hadn't updated my details and phoned the previous owner to let the know the car was moving without the engine being started (I didn't believe them as all of the documentation was sent to my house).

About a year ago I trailered it again, this time no phone call from Trackstar at all. They are supposed to monitor the car and phone you if it is transported without the engine being started, but they didn't do this.....it's a pretty poor service if you ask me.

Every time mine goes on a trailer they constantly phone me, so much that it becomes annoying and I remind them they've already told me 3 times that day Then they ask me for all the known places it's likely to be going to that week for thei records.

Snap, every time mine has been on a trailer I always get a phone call and very promptly. Normally within about 10 mins of the car being taken away!
They ask for names of places and areas of where it is going to be and how long for. :approve:

It was always on a trailer when it lived at GDi, in the end I gave Trackstar GDi's phone number to sort all its movements out direct. Given that I threw away over £25k to GDi, the least they could do was take a few calls. All history now thankfully, upwards and onwards with a smilie or two.

At meets my wheels are usually the dirtiest, I don't stop every 5 miles to wipe them like some of our enthusiasts do.
