Not the ones that go meow...

Do you think gutting both stock cats will free up the exhaust to a fair gain? I mean for the money it should cost will be fairly cheap so even +3-5 hp or lb ft of tourque would be worth it imo.

Would sounds mental aswell I would have thought.

Will be somewhat louder. :)

Gains? A few bhp I guess, and of course you won't have the worry of ruining your cats. The little light on the dash can be annoying though.

When I got mine the cats had been gutted.

I only found out after I noticed the exhaust blowing on the way home after picking up and when I pulled into my street the emission light came on.

Booked into renault and they notified me that the cat was cracked and when they removed it there was nought in the cracked cat, this then cost me £50 to have it rewelded and the £400 bill from renault to put it back on. They were £750 each for the down pipe cats no idea how much collector box is.

Luckly I found a guy from Bedford selling complete OEM system on ebay haggled him down to £165 and fitted it back to the car, I noticed no loss of power from refitting but did notice the emission light reset its self and no more black shit comming out.

A few weeks later I did a little service my self oil change fuel filter and air filter, when I went to change the air filter it had a after market foam unit. I refitted the OEM renault filter and went for a test drive and to my supprise the car ran more responsive and felt quicker.

So to cut a long story short DONT BOTHER with the cats just try increasing the air flow in.
