Great, thanks for the advice. There seems to be so many pumps for sale on Ebay it is kind of hard to know what to get.

I can only seem to find bosch pumps here and they cost about 5 times the price of the one that I linked on ebay. I'll take my time doing some research then get a genuine walbro pump.

I got what I believe to be a Walbro fuel pump from Wanapart in mine, whilst it did give the car a bit of a kick up the back-side. They are noisy little buggers!

My current fuel pump makes a whining buzzing noise- very loud and can easily be heard a long way off over the sound of engine. Kind of sounds like a jet engine. In a way it is quite cool as people seem to expect the car to take off.

Problem is that I dont really have any confidence in the car at the moment as I am paranoid about the pump going. I just drive it down to the shops and back as I don't fancy being towed home.

I am not really looking forward to changing over the fuel pump as I know it is going to be such a mission. Dont reckon that anything has been done to the fuel take since the car was built so I could turn into quite a hassle. Any tips from people who have done this before are welcome.

Stock up on some fuel in a jerry can and fuel jubilee clips (the non serrated type).

Run the tank as low as you can, Fuel pump relay out and wait for it to die, then jack it up or better still access it from an inspection pit.

I put a plastic box under the tank to take the weight of it. 4 bolts hold the fuel tank on, the rear ones will probably have rusted and will just spin. I wedged bits of stuff to take up the height difference then lowered the tank. Take a photo of the connections and where the pipes are routed and then disconnect it all slide the tank out.

Gently hammer with a cold chissel or screw driver the locking nut in different areas to undo it, remove the locking nut, washer and pump Noting the direction it comes out and where the alignment notch is in the tank, make sure you line this up when putting it back together or the pump won't sit right.

Again be gentle in handling the plastic body and crack it open and note the '+' and '-' of the old and new pumps and match them up, reassemble and fit the new filter.

Then fit it all back on the car, fit the fuel pump relay, put a couple of gallons of fuel in.

Prime the line by turning the key about 4/5 times, then fire up.

Hey i have the same problem , but cant find anything good in the netherlands and the prices are off the chain .. Let me know if you do get your hands on that pump from ebay ! And how can you tell if its a fake before you buy it ?

Been doing a bit of googling and found the below link:

also found a video that someone made:

I guess that if you are buying it off ebay you wont know if it is genuine until you receive it.

Great, thanks for the advice. This is really good. Couple of questions. Do I need to take out the spare wheel and the bracket that holds the spare wheel to get access to the tank?

Also, stupid question- where is the fuel pump relay? Is it located in the fuse box?

Yeah forgot that. Take the two brackets off that hold the spare wheel cage on, you could maybe do it with this on if working on it from under a ramp, but otherwise it will just get in the way.

Fuel pump relay is located in the auxillary fuse box (the black box that splits in half mounted on the passenger side in the engine bay just over from the air filter).

There should be two relays in there fixed to the casing, from memory I think the fuel pump is the purple one, You can make sure by taking the cover off and manually closing the contacts of the relay and listen to see if it primes the fuel pump.

Seekpart24 are good. They are based in Germany and I have used them a few times. They have pretty good customer service and generally speak good English. They have a few different pumps although they are quite expensive.

yeah thats a bit over budget for me, im trying to get it max up to 100 eur with the shipping , there asking for 260 eur here for a new orginal pump.. wtf? i looked around on german ebay found this

and this

i was thinking of getting an uprated one , but all the ebay sellers that have one for the clio F7P say that it wont fit an R19 16v , i looked at a post "EFI feul pump upgrade" so i kinda know why they are saying the fuel pump wont fit. Do you know on what pressure the R19 ph1 run on ? this one is 3 Bar ,its sounds as if its not enough..

If it helps i got a walbro pump in mine a while back from FSE Sytec. Just rang em up and told the guy what i wanted/whats suitable. Very helpful. Here's the website http://www.fuelsystem.co.uk/ Pump's Still quite now;)
Didn't trust the ebay ones, worried they were just chinese pipe bombs

walbro pumps will be listed for a valver clio as a 19 runs bosch as standard (or at least any one i had did) the walbro pump is a bit smaller in size and will need securing into the19 intank cage or it moves about in the cage and can cause fueling problems on hard cornering, if your really stuck your 19 will run with a 1.2 clio pump till you get a proper/upgraded one.

Had a quick look under the bonnet today but didnt have time to look properly as I was doing something else. Do I need to remove the air filter in order to access the relay? I currently have a standard air filter and air filter box fitted and it doesnt look like there is space to access the fuse/relay box.

What size jubilee clips are needed?

Sorry for all the questions!

The pump is here ,i tested it and it sounds like a genuine Walbro , plus it has MADE IN USA next to the walbro logo , so i think this ones a winner ! Going to try to put it in on the weekend! The question is , what kind of pump is in my valver now , becouse the return line from the engine has been "pimped" its like 10 cm longer and even touching the bonnet when i close it :o so maybe the past owner uprated the fuel pump but just got a cheap ass fake walbro and its allmost dead.. will update with pics when i do it

So .. the pump is in its place.. took me 3.5 hours in a DIY garage , not a lot of tools needed bet creativity is a must ! I have read in the forum that a Walbro 255 pump gives a good kick in the backside , that i have not experienced ... and the wierdest thing is there is no more sound from it , its suppose to be more noisy then the original one .. Any comments on this is very welcome ! i did everything using Chris H Efi fuel pump upgrade work instruction :) , and the car starts and drives.
