5 GT Turbo Fluffy

You swapped to phase 1 set up? Or did you mean 2? (Re suspension)
I was under the impression phase 1 was the better of the two, not only for the availability of new parts but gave better castor angles (might even have been toe, can't remember) over the phase two set up.
If you have got ph1 stuff stick with it but replace with a decent coil over which will give you the lower ride height and a certain amount of adjustment (depending on spec obviously), 50mm lowering springs will never be any good performance wise as the shock is not designed to run at that height, 35mm would be the better compromise between road/track with new shocks.
Depends on how much you want to spend really
I'm pH 2, I have -30 springs, so I guess some adjustable socks then.

Thanks for that Nick.

Had TNT Ross around today to help me out with a few things, he happened to have a set of new -30mm springs / shocks sitting about doing nothing in his garage which he has donated to the 'Fluffy' appeal (along with many bit's over the years to be honest). What we found when we looked at my old -50mm set up was shocking (no pun intended).

It's really no wonder I've been having so many 'off's' of recent times. Both front shock absorbers have been doing nothing at all. Both are completely foobared.

Took him out for some round-a-bout action and it's made all the difference as you would imagine LOL. Big thanks Ross.

I'll take the rears off and have a look at them ASAP as I got those at the same time from the same place.

Colour sanding to commence this week.

After my newly stippled paint went on, I've started to colour sand it back. I now know where I went wrong when applying the paint which will be a lesson for next time. However I am quite excited about being able to cut this back and then polish it back to a high standard.

Pictures to follow.

Glad you asked :grin.gif:

Well you know how bad my paint spraying is, looks like I put it on with a roller etc.

Well, I had a good go at it over the last few weeks, an hour here and an hour there, firstly flatting back with 1000 grit then 1500 to get to .......

I did a bit more on this after those shots to get rid of the low spots you can see.

Then I used some ....

I'm pretty chuffed with the finish, it's not pro standard but it goes well with the rest of the car, I just need to get some polish and some wax of some description on it now and that will be done.

I've been struggling for nearly 6 years with paintwork, and to get to this standard for me is absolutely fantastic. I'm very happy. I wouldn't do any for anyone else or even on our mini, but for the purpose of Fluffy, this standard is ideal. just a door and blend in the front wing, then I might cut the roof as that was never great from the cheepo respray I had done a few years ago.

One happy Stotty

Sanded down the door and the front wing to 1000 grit - run out of time, hopefully should get the 1500 done tomorrow night, then G3 Thursday. I've gone through the paint in a couple of places which I think I should be able to touch in before G3'ing on Thursday.
