Extra turbo

I could just get the offset altered to et16 and they would be basically cup rims as they are already the same width as them. Probably cost a few quid though

Several years since i bought them fella no idea now. Should be able to find it off the diaologys easy enough i recall they are off a kangoo

Should be some work commencing on the old girl in the next few days - medium sized list

1. Fix carb issues - needle jet was stuck closed, tapped carb and the fecker jammed open resulting in 9afr on idle
2. Reseal sump/change oil & filter - Got some threebond in stock to try - gallon of millers finest cfs 10/60 & new old stock fram filter from the stash
3. Fit vibratechnics front engine mounts - Be rude not to as need to jack engine up to remove the baffled sump - cost a small fortune for the mounts best deliver the goods
4. Fit new pair of rear gaz gold shockers - I feel the current set of gaz rear dampers are getting a little bit tired after several years of track use
5 Fit omp ex clio cup seat & 6 point trs harness - Could be issues with the seat - bought it a year ago when 14stone - as a few of you know i do a bit of bodybuilding - currently sitting at 15.5stone :D sat in it last week and my shoulders are tight in the wings of the seat - its either perfect size or too tight - will sit it in situ and see. Might need to look for a fatboy bucket seat:rolleyes:

Also picked up a set of genuine renault 19 rubber mats for a bargain tenner off gumtree to fit - better than the current mats

I also have a full clio dci epas rack/steering column which i do fancy fitting - not arsed about the pas however the quicker rack is very desirable - owes me nothing - winter project as i do not want to get involved and have it apart for too long

Pics - as everybody loves pics:D

Couple of days graft on the van over the long weekend

First run out of the garage since October last year. Still covered in muck after cadwell
20170416_114231.webp 20170416_114240.webp A few tyres and spare cup rim off Clarky, should see a load of trackdays out of this lot

First job was to fit armtech rev limiter and refit scuttle etc. Next job was to remove sump - Awful job to do in situ with a baffled sump. Looked nice and clean inside the sump, i was going to pull a couple of caps off but the garage is not as clean as i wanted it to be for open heart surgery on an engine so stuck it back together fast. If it aint broke..

New jack doing the business again, Straight under no wooden blocks required20170416_155042.webp
Baffled ph1 sump cleaned up - the trackdayers fav

Nice bead of Threebond 1215 squished out - applied as per workshop manual. This stuff looks good like the old thixo paste20170416_190617.webp
Discovered cracked engine mount, lower bolts had come loose maybe due to busting the rear engine mount a few times ?? Replaced with another from stock20170416_190637.webp
Vibratechnics front engine mounts fitted - had to modify the passenger side box mount as supplied with pissy m8 bolts compared to original m10 - drilled to use original20170417_160522.webp 20170417_160513.webp
Intercooler refreshed with pound shop matt black20170417_134529.webp

Refilled with millers finest cfs 10/60 & new fram filter - new dizzy cap and rotor arm. No leaks touch wood and hopefully stay that way for a while.

Fresh set of gaz gold rear shockers fitted as im giving the suspension an overhaul. Not a great deal wrong with the old shockers to be fair looked fine when off so probably did not need changing but still got them now so fitted:D20170417_181737.webp

Mocked up the omp renaultsport seat - still unsure whether to fit or not as its a bit tight on the shoulders ?? Had a couple of bits of 7x2 to raise seat up:D20170418_124155.webp 20170418_124611.webp 20170418_124601.webp
Give it a clean up as it was rather mucky after cadwell last year and a big oil slick up the back due to massive sump leak :D still cleans up ok after 9 years of trackdays/c1j turbo power20170418_145657.webp 20170418_145712.webp 20170418_145728.webp 20170418_145825.webp

Front suspnsion work next week. To be continued ;)

Need to knock some mounts up and get it in position properly and go from there:D i think im on the verge of outgrowing it though !

Ordered 300lb springs - have arrived so will get them on soon. I was tempted to jump in at 350 or 400 from the off but fear they may be a bit much for occasional road use. We will see i guess !? Still springs are dirt cheap for coilovers £15 a side so no worries if they are not suitable. 20170421_143923.webp
Took it for a short run to tesco for some fuel yesterday as it was on the verge of running out. Oil leak free lets hope it stays that way :D20170421_133403.webp 20170421_142533.webp

Last weekend fitted the 300lb springs and added -2.5deg camber with home made camber gauge and a bit of trigonometry & set the toe with stringline.20170430_150305.webp 20170430_150318.webp 20170430_153323.webp 20170430_192625.webp 20170430_192628.webpInitial test drive showed the springs and added camber make for better turn in. Sadly a couple of issues have come up - the front avo shocks need rebuilding again & the engine is still pissing out oil. The oil leak appears to be coming from the crack in the back of the block under hard cornering - its covering the starter & exhaust in oil. I have known about the cracked block for years however god knows what happened at cadwell it must have got worse when the rear engine mount snapped. So its looking like engine must come out for further inspection - repair current block or renew for one of the few i have in stock. Whichever way it goes it will need a bit of money spending on it so will be a winter project. The sad thing is the engine still goes great no other issues, so its looking like no trackdays for the van this summer.20170430_190831.webp

so its looking like no trackdays for the van this summer
Spray it with brake cleaner
Pack it with chemical metal
Leave it for a week

If it works, it'll see you through the summer. If not, you lose nothing. I patched a crack in the sump of my first 21 Turbo in '96 with JB Weld and it worked so well it was there for the rest of its days :) Never leaked again. Well, not from the sump crack. Pissed out everywhere else but thats not the point lol

Did exactly the same on one of my c1j !

Cowboys the pair of you haha. I have bodged it in the past needs fixing properly now. Will need to pull starter/exhaust off to see the extent of the crack. Ill probably take it for its test at the end of the month and then pull the engine out and go from there. Its overdue a freshen up to be honest & perfect time for a few upgrades;)

Just been sent this old pic of the van at Santa Pod back in 2011 that i thought had been lost many years ago. I believe its still the fastest qtr mile for an extra van in europe maybe the world !?017.webp In other news i have been gathering nice parts for my new engine setup, updates to come:D
