I did crack on and do bits when I could!
At my new job they have an in house parts department so I’ve access to tools, parts etc at good rates.
I decided that I was going to buy myself a new good quality trolley jack, proper size 2.5/3T
No more Mickey Mouse jacks and resting cars on hopes and dreams while you throw all your weight at a rusty bolt underneath.
Long over due.
Went for sealey premier 3T with stands, in green. Came with freebies too, all for a good price. I’m very happy with it.
Apart from general safety, I wanted a good jack and good stands so I could get the car high enough up to get good access to the exhaust. I’ve since decided I need a 2 post ramp, obviously

I got the exhaust at the start of the year, the one on it before was a bag of shite. This one, being honest, isn’t THAT much better. It is better, but not spot on. But I only really realised this when finally getting round to fitting so I could use the car. So it was going on.
I had bought various angles and a couple of flanges to get it fitted. I knew I was going to have to re weld the downpipe I had modified last time.
So it’s on and it doesn’t knock and it’s quieter than it’s ever been and it’s sealed properly. All good. But my back box doesn’t sit right, cant win them all, maybe the third exhaust I buy will be good.
Radiator needed swapped out as it leaked, got an alloy one with a slim fan off of eBay, fine quality for the price. Fitted, flushed the coolant system and washed the bottle best I could and filled with type d and water.
The bottle is stained unfortunately.
Back down on its wheels, bled the system and let it heat up on the drive. A quick run down the street to check steering and brakes all working as they should and it’s been put into daily service. And again, it’s a fucking riot. I love it. It’s the noise and the handling. Side note, rear spacers need to be smaller. Haha
I got the wheels painted up with some cheap alloy wheel silver, they came out fine and the car really is very standard looking.
Jobs that need done, it badly needs a gearbox, the leak has slowed down a fair bit so I can only assume it’s running fairly low on oil. I have two boxes on the shelf, both are somewhat untested.
And it needs painting. So so badly.
At the moment I’m painting my Renault 5, or going through the steps to do so anyway.
So depending how that comes out I might have a crack at doing this aswell.
Even if it was to look shit, Atleast it would be evenly shit. Unlike the current blend of touch up misery.
So it’s being used at the moment, likely to come off the road again when it runs out of mot. And at that point it might get the engine out and the car/bay all painted.
Might have to go standard exhaust manifold and exhaust itself at that point. and put the heat shield on, and buy a plastic engine cover.. and a parcel shelf.. hmm. Very standard.
Cheers,
