Extra turbo

You looked like you got your moneys worth out of the old set !

Definitely! I was thinking about it yesterday and i fitted them back in 2009.
Done Mallory park x2, Rockingham, Donnington, Blyton x2, Teesside and a fair few road miles. I cannot believe they have lasted so long. The discs did not really need replacing but for £25 it was a no brainer.

Mintex m1144 were fitted previously. They are a fast road/occasional track day pad, i cant really fault them for normal use, work well from cold. Only ever had them fade once after 5 hot laps of donnington.

A few pics from a very wet Croft at the end of October. Van was flying as usual no issues apart from massive fuel surge on left hand turns with quarter tank or less fuel, must fit the swirl pot i have stashed at some point in the new year . The R888's performed well in the wet too - was hard to put the power down though 90mph wheelspin:D once the track dried out mid afternoon was business as usual though flashing a few scoobys out of the way etc;)

They performed really well to be honest no worse than any road tyre. The whole intermediate tyre is dangerous in the wet story is very over hyped in my opinion:)

So after Croft at the end of October i have not really touched the van due to shite weather and no repairs required. As the tax expires today i took her out for one last blast and to use up the half a tank of fuel. Whacked the battery back on and it fired up no drama's business as usual. Got some footage on my new Sjcam SJ4000 which i will edit and upload later, i had it stuck to the door with a genuine go pro suction cup and it did not move at all. Cant wait to get it on track again roll on 2016..:)

Van still hibernating in the garage for now. I have fired it up a couple of times to move it out to get stuff out though. Could use it a lot at the moment for house renovations but no tax sadly! I have noticed the carb needs a little bit of attention as the top gasket is leaking fuel slightly into the venturi causing a mega rich idle - no problem to fix just need a carb seal kit. I cant complain as i havent touched the carb for 2 years...

Pic of it outside the garage for a change

In other news i have bought a new seat. Been looking for a nice bucket seat for a while and was tagged in a pic of a nice omp winged seat with the original Renaultsport font on the top on the cliosport facebook group. With the new house renovations i have not got time for a roadtrip so dismissed the idea. Scrolling through my news feed i seen it for sale again - by a mate who lives 3 miles away. I got in touch and he even dropped it off for £100 of your finest ££. It looks to be out of an early clio 172 cup race car or clio v6 trophy racer. The date on the seat is 2001.20160130_112523.webp 20160130_112532.webp 20160130_112526.webp
Fairly rare seat i guess and should fit nice in the van. A few marks but fits in with the whole well used appearance of the vehicle. I was offered a matching seat from france but sadly the price was a little bit more than my car budget for this month so passed on it happy with one seat. However tonight i have been offered another one in the uk not too far away ! So might have a matching pair:D stored in the van for now with @Sheryl_O 's r26 lsd gearbox. To be continued..20160130_201208.webp

Mot booked for sat 11am ! Best pull my finger out and get it fixed and empty the back:D

Open rear doors , sidestep clutch ?

Not a bad idea:D

So got a couple of hours on the van this afternoon to get it ready for mot.20160526_142120.webp

1st job was to sort the carb out. The idle had gone super rich and was around 10.0 as the carb top gasket was leaking fuel into the venturi. Whipped lobster and carb top off - new gasket on. Battery back on and cranked into life fairly easy settling to a nice idle from cold 14.5afr:D20160526_135203.webp

2nd job was pre mot checks. Jacked it up and checked all the suspension components for play etc everything still nice and tight, prob only 1500 miles max since last mot. I did notice the rear passenger side drum was binding - took it off and full of brake dust. A good bang out and refit sorted this - always seems to happen after track abuse - must convert to rear discs eventually. Pic of shite in drum below20160526_143734.webp
Providing mot goes ok should only need an oil change and coolant flush - be good to go for blyton:)

Top hose and stat out and flush it with a hose pipe. If you can be arsed pull the bottom rad hose off and flush the rad both ways.

Mot passed no issues as expected ! Flew through. Had a play with an audi r8 on the way back. He was up my arse off a roundabout - hammer down in 2nd gear and pulled 4 car lengths on it and continued to hold the same in 3rd. I dont doubt it would have shot past in 4th gear but cant beat the comedy value ! The lads in the r8 were loving it:D

Not many miles since last test !
