Extra turbo

Lol the writing in the back always cracks me up, the other side is better, most of my wrecked conversations from back in the day, awesome !

A few more at santa pod 2010/11. Might blow dust off the old M&H drag radials one day to try and beat my 12.67 with some gas. Iirc nobody has beat this time in a c1j powered extra van.

So track prep has started for Blyon park.

I have started by doing the brakes as they were a bit poor. First of all was deglaze the front discs and pads with short hard bursts of braking 70-30mph 4 or 5 times on thursday night.

Second job was to adjust the rear drums as i had not touched them since 2010 at a guess. The passenger side wasn't too bad but the drivers side was quite far off - the self adjuster had seized. Freed that off and deglazed the shoes/drums. The drivers side rear had never been bled since i have owned it as previous owner had rounded of the bleed nipple on the cylinder. Last time i bled the brakes was maybe 2010 i had to leave it as i thought the nipple would shear off and new cylinder/pipe would be needed and did not have the time to mess about. Anyway got the stihlsons on it and it cracked off fairly easy so replaced the nipple at 70 pence. Like nice cheap fixes like this. Rear compensator was semi seized so freed that off.

Pressure bled/flushed the system with ATE TYP 200 which is the replacement for super blue. The pedal has gone from firm with travel to rock hard and minimal travel. Overall the bite has improved so win win. Paid a tenner for a ltr of fluid with 35% off at gsf so a couple of hours work and the price of a couple of beers.

Next jobs are oil and filter change - the oil has done hardly no miles but will prob change it anyway as i have 6 ltrs of castrol edge 10/60 in the garage doing nowt and a million oilfilters on the shelf. Insurance runs out next friday but just got renewal through @ £200 for the year so not really breaking the bank.

First run out in 4 month - plonked the battery back on and drove it no issues whatsoever

Found a minor coolant leak on the way back to the garage top rad hose has the start of a pinhole in it. Had the same hose fail last year and now the replacement which is samco is leaking. I do not rate silicone hoses had a few coolant hoses fail over the years. Give me new oem hoses over silicone any day of the week. Ill sort it out next weekend.

What other than OE are the options other than silicon hoses ?

Only oem or silicone. I think the silicone may go again with a bit of choppage - if not ill chp an oe hose

So Croft booked for the 30th Oct. Van has had an oil change and general health check. New brakes as the old pads had 2mm left on after Blyton :D so new o.e sized 238mm ferodo discs and ferodo ds2500 pads. Job done for £100. New black hoses fitted to the intercooler for stealth look:DIMG_20150906_191010.webp IMG_20150906_185533.webp IMG_20151017_141552.webp 20151017_153805.webp
