5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

Nice work there Dave...I think CG quoted me £800 to make that set up.
It was a while ago so may have changed.

I will be getting them to reline my paddle clutch for the new engine, will have a chat with them in the new year.

The thing I like about doubling up the plates is that it does literally double torque capacity :D

The TTV sintered plates will even fit in a single plate cover, but sintered are race-only VERY harsh!

Shit just got real for me as not only are we moving into our first married home next month but we are now expecting our first child in July, it’s pretty much why I went on a bat shit crazy spending spree these last few weeks as that is going to have to stop In 2018. Have a great xmas and Happy New Year.

Evening all, the clutch saga continues and I need some sound advice from the group. Long story short I don’t trust Helix and their lead times are woeful but a mate of mine has linked me to these;

http://ttvracing.com/product/renault-5-gtt-184mm-race/

http://ttvracing.com/product/ttv-racing-single-plate-race-clutch-184mm-7-25/

My question is can anyone think of a reason why this combo wouldn’t be a straight fit and if there may be something I’m missing or not considering ? Funky bolt patterns ? Not for cable operated clutch etc etc ?

Used a lot of ttv flywheels over the years and always had good quality and service (mostly vx220 ones).

As they machine the flywheels any adjustments needed cant be much of a problem, that said the combo fitting is definetly a question for them

I have no experiance of their clutches but I would cross reference the dimensions with oem clutch assembly and check clearance in bell housing also

Cable or hydraulc not a problem and is more the movmemt to operate/ releaae the clutch and releaae bearing not floting about

6 paddle is a far more fdiendly than a 4 also for the road

TTV are freaking awesome. I would give them a call and speak to them. They are mega helpful

Iv'e opted for a TTV flywheel and a paddle but with a modified standard pressure plate, not sure how it will work but i'm only looking for 180/200horsies, good luck with the little one It wont change much for you!!! just quadruple any time you had planned for projects!!flywheel.webp image[1].webp

Ttv page wont load for some reason but gtt usually 200mm from memory & 180ish mm for gordini so would check that it is correct

A clutch doesn't know how it's actuated. All it needs is the spring fingers pushing in, be it hydraulic, pneumatic or manual/cable. The only watchout is that you have the clearance between the cover and the bellhousing of the 'box to get your solution in there.

TTV kit is pretty awesome, I use it. The basics of it are:
Does the flywheel fit the engine bolt pattern and is the starter ring gear right? (tooth trigger pattern doesnt matter as you're on a 36-1)
What bolt pattern is used for the clutch? 184mm equispaced is a good move if it has the torque capacity. You get the benefit of being able to take your pick of multiple friction plates, and those plates are refurbishable. The clutch cover friction surface is also replacable and you can move to a twin plate cover with the same bolt pattern and an extra friction plate. Having a twin plate literally doubles torque capacity.
If you get a flywheel with the standard/oe bolt pattern you are limited to just that cover and matching friction plate.

The plot thickens.

Matt Rowley ordered his Helix paddle 6 weeks ago and still hasn’t arrived, I ordered mine on 18th December and Mardi Gras (Helix main UK dealer) have just called to say mine is in already. My plan is to now take the clutch and pay but before fitting investigate the TTV angle.

@Gary - yes I’ve dealt with Ben before, my current flywheel is a TTV lightweight one. I’ll await their call, hopefully Monday.

Cheers all

Yeah I think you’re right Jon, I’m going to run the Helix again, it’s puchased now and if I hear the rattle again at least this time I’ll know what it is and worry about swapping it out. With house move and baby on the way I can’t keep chucking money at it as I bet the TTV option isn’t cheap.

Going to fit engine and box next weekend, should be up and running in no time.

Gents, who can help me with Gordini head info?

How much do you think one should cost ? Is there a specific head depth where one becomes unusable ? To me this one looks a little ropey, thoughts ? E8C3732D-FA88-48BF-8533-613758AEA882.webpAEF795BD-BD5D-4A53-A186-7543E6D701F6.webp42B77937-5B78-489A-9D96-3A95DC029099.webp
