5 GT Turbo EFI - GT Turbo

Popped to the supermarket for a bite to eat tonight and happened to see this Supra with the number plate TRY so I thought I'd oblige. The little 5 held it's own and if I could learn to stay in the power band and higher up the rev's at the start I would of done a little better. Still thats a 1600KG car so must be pushing 500hp or so.

Just shows though that if I can obtain the extra 20-30hp I want during next mapping I'd beat cars like that. Should push be closer to the magic 350hp per ton mark.

i need to see this at some point, fancy some drag racing end of sept, start of of october? could set some new numbers in this thing!

I would like to try and see what sort of 1/4 it could achieve but I'm an absolute noob so would take a bit of practice I guess. Never really hard launch it and when I have it just lights them up in 1st/2nd. I'd need some drag radials I guess ? Not sure about a diff ? What do you think ?

id just have a go as is for fun. I'm sorting an event at shakey soon so you can get loads of runs in compare to pod. practice is the key, getting of the line is a winner though so maybe something a little sticky to help.

digging buddy, so far ive been told it a twin turbo with possibly a stage 1 and bpu? like i have a clue what any of that means lol

everyone needs more lol. supras are long legged mind, so top end they mince loads. Similar to old audis, my s4 was ok off the lights to 70, would quarter in 12.7, its party piece was 85-90 upwards where it would be unrelenting to 160+ that only laid down 340/350bhp

Operation manifolds starts Sunday, will have the old ones off ready for the new gasket arriving Monday.

For now I am going to keep the fuel fittings the same so I've ordered some -6 fittings that work with my current 8mm fuel hose (push on). I will update the rest of the system when I fit the swirl pot set up after mapping.

The only few things to consider is a new throttle cable run, will most likely need to fudge some kind of bracket to hold cable sleeving. Final thing will be a trip to Forge to pick up some new boost hoses but that can wait until everything is in situ.

IMG_6102.webp IMG_6105.webp IMG_6106.webp IMG_6109.webp IMG_6110.webp Made a start today, old gasket was absolutely shit so hoping the new one will make a difference especially for the money. Will need to move the water hose to header tank as that looks shit above inlet. The exhaust manifold is going to be a tight squeeze so will need to remove down pipe first but that can wait until the weekend, hoping it fits but Matt assures me he did a test fit with a 2.5 inch down pipe.

Also going to need one of Matts custom strut braces as my old one won't be going back on.
