Clio Clio 172 (will this one get a turbo?)

I finally got 10mins (hour and a half) to try to sort this gasket out. It's the most awkward thing to do. And because I've got this turbo downpipe it covers access to one of the bolts a bit. Also because I don't have the perfect engine dynamics T25 to v clamp adapter it all sits a bit lower making it even harder to do.
Got it all off

Old Vs new.
Only a small bit of overall dimension differences but it's def got some sqaushability in the new one.
I covered it in exhaust paste aswell and got it in.
It seemed to behave tightening this time. And then I had the struggle of getting it back on the v band. But it's all back together and done now.
On the floor and ready to be insured and used again.
Cheers

Mmmm. If I was to put this for sale on here would anyone be interested? There's a few itches I need to scratch and cash is tight these days. This is the only one that can give at the minute. I know I'll regret it though.

Some drilled and grooved discs came up cheap with EBC yellow pads. Got them on today nice and easily. They seem good condition. Little surface rust. And the pads have more.meat on them than the ones I took off.

Not driven yet but hopefully they'll cure the weird brake noise and feel I've had.
Cheers

Ok. This car got a new second hand set of coilovers as the last ones were shot.
Sooo much better. Not just bouncing about on springs.
Then decided it's good enough for now to stop spending money on it. So it went for sale.
But it didn't sell. Kinda not upset tbh.
So it has now gone into storage and I've swapped it with the Subaru. That's next on the list.
I will revisit it later in the year. Thanks

Been very busy these days
Head gasket on the tigra b204 as it was leaking oil
PXL_20240320_115846947.webp

Mini needed a few gaskets
PXL_20240402_125446112.webp
Wasn't allowed to put a smaller pulley on it.

Waterpump seized on the s max so head gasket and cambelt on that

I remapped that after and its apparent it'll need a clutch now 😁

And head gaskets and cambelt on the Subaru (still just finishing that off) as it sprung a small leak on the crossover

And had a look at the clio 😭
My urborenault is looking like crap!

Interior is clean enough but where it's been under a cover it's kept whatever moisture that got under there under there.
Many snails and huge spiders hiding around it.
It started up no issue for a few seconds. Then the starter stopped responding.
Will try again next week with jump leads to see if it helps.
I think it probably looks worse than it is but will get onto this next, after the Subaru. Should probably do a cambelt on this aswell 😂
So revisiting this later in the year turned out to be over a year later!
Cheers

plenty of spannering going on mind. doing the clutch on the smax yourself?
I would say no. But I'll get a price and almost certainly say yes I'll do it myself. I know it's not as straightforward as a focus as my steering rack is in the way, but still, bolts are bolts.
Ford people paying £1k for a cambelt £1k for a clutch. Madness. I don't even have that option

Time has passed again. But I've not been lazy
Sold the tigra.
Sold the mini.
Sold the C30.
Bought a Saab.
Took a deposit on the Clio, but then backed out of the sale.

Whilst all this is going on. I've been playing with the Clio.
New spark plugs and fuel pump.
Fresh fuel.
Car is a ripper and is no longer for sale. I realised how much I liked tinkering with something so small and easy compared to all the other cars.

I put new rear pads discs and bearings on the back as I've always had this like abs pulse kick back when slowing down. I had already changed the fronts so I assumed it was the rear.
Whilst it was all off I put 10mm shims in aswell.
And now I have another issue.
I drive and traction control comes on constantly. Blocking all the power. If I turn it off I can drive normally.
But then the dash looks like this
PXL_20250322_133033255.webp

Turn the car off and on again and it's back to normal.
I've tried a different brake switch. No difference.
Is it possible the rear discs have different reluctor rings?
Do I have an abs issue. Or did I just damage an abs sensor when I had it all apart. Or have I always had a broken ring on the fronts?
Side note. My cruise control and limiter has also never worked. Is this linked?

New rings on.

Putting it all back together.
Snapped the ball joint pinch bolt. Can't find one for sale at a reasonable price. So I've got a lower ball joint with the bolts on the way.
Also snapped the arb bracket off. Autodoc have them for £2 but £8 postage and £4 tax. So I found one in the UK for £10.
Still. If it fixes my issue them I'm still only in for £30.
Will also get the cat back on whilst it's in the air. Then I better see about moting the thing and finally try to enjoy it.

New bolt on. Arb bracket on order but fixed for now.
Just took it out for a warm up. Nope. Still have the issue. I think my pedal bounce has gone. So the rings have solved that. But my issue of lights coming on and esp not letting me put my foot down atall is still there.
Car can be driven if I turn esp off.

Rear with the 10mm shims in. I think that sits perfectly there.

And went full work van mode.
Bonus. It's got coilovers on the front that I had forgotten about and actual yellow stuff pads ok the front
Cheers

Rear targets? The traction system compares driven wheel speed to undriven wheel speed, and rolls the power off if it thinks the driven wheels are accelerating much faster than the rears. Kinda like ABS but the opposite way around.

Sounds right. Does that mean I have a sensor down at the rear? Or have I put abs rings on the back that have the wrong amount of teeth.
