Clio Clio 172 (will this one get a turbo?)

Next post: "car off the road after my turbo sucked in a chunk of kitchen sieve"

Get a proper air filter you ropey sod! :D
šŸ˜‚ I think the fuel pump will give up first.
It's only temporary. I want to take all the pipework off again at some point to clean them up l. Maybe wrap them. Get some heat shielding on the exhaust. There's not much room there atm even for an elbow so I'll have to see what others have done

I have been using it for a few days now.
Lost a downpipe but and caught a couple before they left. They're turbo nuts and spring washers so impressed they came off.

I've noticed a kinda cough on boost. I'm hoping it's not the turbo itself. Probably something to do with the fuel pipe/pump setup. So I'll not be driving hard till I've hooked up an afr gauge.

In other non turbo related news. My washer bottle leaks the fluid out overnight and my internal heater doesn't seem to do what I ask of it. Sometimes hot. Sometimes cold.
Cheers

I have ordered MƩgane 225 expensive spark plugs.
A turbo blanket.
Gold reflective tape for pipes and I'm going to tuck the fuel pipes out the way with it aswell.
Heat wrap for the downpipe
A garter seal for the vvt solenoid cus that looks a bit leaky.
And I'm still waiting on my third try fuel hose.
Cheers

Fuel pump and filter ordered. I hope it fits...

Also. Fashion.

šŸ˜‚ Done a terrible job. And used most of the tape for just that 1 elbow.
Also tried to fit the turbo blanket. There's so little room there it's gonna be almost impossible to get it round nicely so I gave up on that.
And I ties the 2 fuel lines together, just a bit away from the downpipe.
Cheers

No pictures but the MƩgane 225 fuel pump went in today. No drama. Just had to change one of the spade connectors to a larger one and it went in standard position.
Went to change the fuel filter... Turns out I don't have one. So that's the fuel feed all sorted for now for peace of mind.
Not that I can test it out though as money is tight and insurance has run out on this so in the garage it'll stay. Luckily I have all the stuff I need for the heat protection. So I'll be trying to get that on. Then I can rest easy and save up for the full map and see just how good it can be.
Cheers

Is that a new fuel pump matey?

I've foolishly called out the owner of a Mk7 golf r for a battle.
The specs say i should be able to bother him enough to question paying 25k!
I see him launching and getting a good few car lengths off the line with his fancy 4wd then having me close in the mirror for the remainder.
I have a few psi left in the turbo and I've clocked a 5.5 0-60. His car is a claimed 4.9. I've already got 15s with Toyo proxes on the front to increase acceleration. I think there's a 5.0 in there somewhere. And I'll not be going on past 3 digits. That's not what my game is. Silly speeds up there.
But he's worried...
With that being said i need to get on with taking the exhaust downpipe off and getting that wrapped. Blanket on the turbo. Free flowing the exhaust in way of removing boxes.
Then it'll be a weight saving game. And when there's spare cash again a trip to efi for the map finish.
Cheers

I thought I updated this but obviously it didn't go through.
It's all back together. With the exhaust restrictions removed.
Nothing in the cat.
Nothing in the first box to begin with.

Welded back up.

I'm not touching this one. Not worth it.

And then the backbox is separated into 3 compartments.
Middle and rear have all the stuff removed. Again wasn't much left anywayPXL_20221014_153608619.jpgPXL_20221014_153615393.jpg
And I left the front one. The heavy end. Gives me some sort of sound protection.

This downpipe to cat joint is giving me a headache. I knew they were hard to do up to begin with but this seems not to be clamping atall. It just wiggles all over the place and I can't get the bolts tight enough. Maybe I need to try a new bushier cone ring.
So I've still basically got most of my gasses escaping there tbh.

I also gave it the yellow. And trimmed the number plate to fit the car.

Cheers.
