bouncing idle

have you tried a different ecu?

nope. Could be that of course. It was on a shelf in the garage most of the winter.

Lewis i'd have the ECU off u if i knew it'd be the solution!

that sounds cool. I can wait til June 13th if ur at FCS? Save on post ;)

yeah i'll not forget, the car wont let me  If you want to swap it for something i've got...

new exhaust mid section
new rear suspension shocks
a new bearing
a top mount
ph2 bonnet and grille
fogs (white)
airbox
n/s driveshaft
aux water pump relay

I should put some of this up in the for sale section!

I need a top mount for the ph1 assuming they're the same, unless the bearing you have is a top mount one (or a wheel one?). My mount squeaks like mad
We'll check the ECU works first (y)

Also is that the bonnet originally for me, in red?

it is a 16V top mount, universal, not new but undamaged. I got the bearings for it and a bvrand new wheel bearing. It is the bonnet that you won in the poll! What did you do with that metalflake one with the filler?

Ok cool, I'll probs trade you the top mount then.
Yay, I forgot about that, still got the other one, sat in my shed next to Neo's white one for the maxi!

Hi,

Did you check the alternator? It will make the idle bounce if its faulty! At least it will do it for sure on a daewoo espero and racer!

faulty alternator won't affect the running.

The headlights and fuel pump etc will all pulse up and down which is annoying but the ecu ignition module etc are all voltage regulated within. Simple zener diodes do this.

Just read through this thread and wondered if you found out what was wrong with your car in the end?

Cheers

Same here. If it helps i had a similar problem & turned out to be the ecu causing an irregular idle & could sort of get by it, by fiddling with the throttle body idle screw. & then just got another ecu & was fine after:)

I have a similar problem and over fueling, I was supposed to get a IAT and CTS delivered today but no show

I have checked all the wiring today and it seems ok, if these sensors do nothing when replaced I will try another ECU.

This is one of the worst cars I have bought i'm sorry to say, but I love it :D

Cheers

Reno5gtt:

the problem i had still occurs when sitting in traffic after driving a whie (1/2 hours)

Plus the car idles high infrequently (1200 instead of 900 rpm)

I never solved the problem completely

Cheers for getting back to me on that JR... I'll be fitting my sensors tomorrow but to be honest I believe what Chris H says and they won't make a difference. I have been looking for a broken wire today and had no luck.

I'm thinking with the over fueling issue it might be lack of spark as it would give the same sort of reading of unburnt fuel.

It might be an electrical problem now... :(

lack of spark of sporadic failure is the ignition module which fail frequently. High heat and old age get to them. They can can fail/begin failing in a variety of ways.

however 90% of these cars have loom issues now, I have had to replace entire sections of loom that look ok but when pulled gently the copper inside has rotten away

This is going to be a job for tomorrow I think Chris, I fitted a new CTS sensor today and no difference... The IAT sensor I was sent was wrong and I get the correct one tomorrow so whilst fitting that i'm going to have a proper look at the wiring.

The ignition module is the bit the coil sits on? I have very little experience with these engines, give me a 5 to work on anyday!! ;)

yes! and it's the same one used on all old 19's and clio's.. get a motorola one, i've had problems with others, even from new. cheapest is probably to get one at the breakers under warranty. you could borrow one of a working car to check first, of course..
