I have only seen one actually go through the glass. It had 5 bikes (kids bikes bungeed to the biggger bikes) on it and no foam stuff round the pipes. It was amazing it never went through sooner.

Its not going through the glass im worried about, its the whole lot falling off the back. Just seems a dumb idea to strap bikes to a rack thats hung off the bootlid by straps and hooks.

Im sure I could use one safely, I sure as hell dont trust your average moron to do it though.

Yeah its a bit mental hanging a few k's (potentially) of pushbike off the back of a hatch.

Will your bike not just fit in the back of you pull the wheel off? Thats how I used to do it.

Yeah it would but I'm lazy... also I go on biking and camping trips with mates... all the gear is a bit awkward.

The other benefit of having a towbar is that if you get rear ended even at low speed, you know the other person's car will be FUCKED :lol:
