5 GT Turbo Big Steve's "ST Cup" Car

Managed to sneak a few hours in the garage this Bank Holiday Monday afternoon and it turned out to be quite productive!! :)

First I thought I would try & link up the steering column to the 182 PAS rack. I had a quick look at the column and figured I needed to shorten the column by about 35mm to fit with the 182 Rack, so I removed it from the car and had a little look:

I figured that the splined shaft was "adjustable" so marked the level for where I wanted it shortening to:

I then got my "Adjuster" o_O and made the adjustment..

.. and I'm pleased to say it worked a treat!!! I ended up having to shorten the column by about 45mm in total to fit the 182 rack in the end.
Whilst the steering column was out (and I had some more room under the dash), I figured I would have a little look at the braking system as even though I fitted new/refurbished Calipers, Master Cylinder, Pads and Disks when I last did some work on the car, the braking system still didn't exactly inspire confidence on the car's last outing... So I wondered if the Servo was perhaps past it's best??

I had a punt on a new "RENAULT SERVO" on ebay some months ago for about £30, but it didn't say what car the servo was off so I thought I'd take a chance? I made a comparison with the OE Servo today and..... IT FITS LIKE A DREAM!! Direct bolt in replacement!! :grin.gif::declare.gif::clapping.gif:The beauty is, it's a little bit bigger, and in my book, bigger is better!! :read.gif:
I took a few pictures to show you all for reference:

You see when it's fitted back to the car, you wouldn't notice the difference :drinks.gif:

I've since done a little bit of research on the part number that's on the Servo, and it appears to be a Clio 2 Unit?
Whilst I was still groping around the drivers footwell, I also took the liberty to change the accelerator pedal for a spare one I had, and the clutch cable for a new one, as I didn't know it's provenance???

Thanks for reading :)

Seen agency transmissions' name banded about but couldn't personally recommend them.

Some one asked me once if the gt turbo lot changed their diffs, my answer was simply not when the part alone costs more than the cost of the car it's going in. Guessing that's why not many people have any input .

Didn't @CRM fit one for someone? Over night parts to France maybe

Matt did rebuild the box once but the gripper was already fitted.
Competition gearboxes supplied and fitted my gripper and was spot on.
The Gripper needed a service/inspection and once sent the box to them. They sorted a refresh on the gearbox through someone and again spot on.
Will be going back to Gripper this year for a service/inspection

Hi guys, doing a bit of midnight reading (well, it's 1 am here at the mo).
Yep, fitted a few quaife diffs in the past..... And restored a few gearboxes with grippers.
With the pas, I personally wouldn't have gone for a liquid setup.
I built a couple of Clio 17/82 race cars and used the 1.2 Clio 2 racks and the power column from the same cars, there's even a kit to buy that allows a potetiometer to adjust or even turn off the pas assistance.
I set them up so with a flick of a switch you have pas but no need for the engines go run, ideal when pushing them around paddocks etc.....
