Megane Big Steve's Iron Blue Megane 4 GT

Since 2001 my daily driver has been a car provided to me by the company for use whilst on business and I've had a selection of typical diesel dog REP cars during this time (including VW Golf, Ford Mondeo's, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 & A6's) whilst I worked in various sales roles in the Plastics Industry since I started working in 1991  (Jesus I'm getting old now..!)

I fancied a change after many years in the same industry, so in February 2018 I took a leap of faith and joined a totally different industry as a Sales Manager. In this role again I was provided with a Company Car and this time it was an Audi A4:

Nice car, and given it was the 190 BHP Diesel Auto version, it went very well also! However it wasn't an estate, and I much prefer an estate car as you can fit so many more Renault parts in the boot. So I negotiated with the company to buy me an Audi A4 Avant. The specification was finalised, and this was what was ordered after i'd passed my probationary period in the new role:
135062
That car was ordered in Summer '18 and and expected in early winter.

Anyway I won't bore you with the detail, but it eventually came to pass that I would opt out of the company car scheme, and take the money and free choice of what Car I should have instead!! With that news, I was straight on the internet looking at options, and within a fraction of a second, I was on the Renault website!! #dedicatedtothediamond

First I was thinking to get myself a Clio 4RS, but then I realised it would just be too small for me. Next thought was to order a new Megane RS Trophy for delivery sometime in '19... but then I had a rush of sensibility wash over me and realised I didn't want to punt all of the money on a new car that would depreciate like a stone AND if my sums didn't work out, would cost me money. Therefore I kept looking at very quickly found this:

135063

2017 Renault Megane GT with 15K miles, 2 previous Renault owners (Demo and Employee) and VERY NEARLY with the MAX Option package including:
Alcantara Heated Seats with Blue accent:
135064

Auto Gearbox with Flappy Paddles (The car is basically a Clio 4RS with a bigger blue suit. Same engine and running gear)
135065
135066

Panoramic Sunroof
135067

Bose sound system:
135068

And Radar cruise control:
135069
135070

By my reckoning, the ONLY option it does not have is the automatic parking feature!

So the deal was done, and I collected it on the 2nd February 2019 with another one of my Private numberplates fitted:
135071
I then drove it back home in the sh1tty weather, and it was dirty as fook:
135073
But that was a good thing, as It was nice and dirty for when I took it to our very own @detailR for some of his special loving!
135074
Needless to say, he brought out the true beauty of the car (Turn the Audio on for the full @detailR experience!!)

And he left it looking like this, with the Ceramic Coating:
135075
135077
135078

So that's 5 Renaults I own... I'm ready for the nutcase!! :help.gif:

Looks a cracking find and nice car / useful options. I learned to take the company car cash some years back now, as long as your sensible it makes far more sense ;)

5 Renault......there is no help for you lol

I would have been tempted to put some miles on the r25 for a year and pocket the cash :D

It would turn out with better mpg for 5% use and 15% less mpg proper use lol

I love that all maps make ref to more power, less revs needed more mpg......I just rag the cars more lol

Bonus points to guess the car mpg of the gearbox limited power increased I had Sunday over 100 miles.

Is this a GT220? if so same engine as the Megane 250 so will easily see 300 bhp with a few little tickles

No it’s the same engine as the Clio 4rs, 1.6l turbocharged with EDC gearbox. It’s rated at 205bhp as standard, so I would imagine it would get to 220 with a Map?? The Intercooler would be a limiting factor probably, but I’ve not see anyone makes one for it? Probably the Clio one would fit? The OE one is the same part number (I checked!) 😉

Love the colour, look a nice bit of kit in general . But (I going to sware now) I would of been tempted by something German as a daily . But saying that her in doors has had two Megane’s and They never missed a beat so what do I know.

My daily french C3 ikle turbo has done 15k miles in the last 10 months and not missed beat other than some funky refusing to always accept my demands of Amazon music at times. 50-60mpg for a petrol average over each month win win

Sure this will serve you well Steve and auto def take some of the commute pains ;)

Looking back I have not had many German cars , They have mainly been french and mostly Renault. But have Run Merc Sprinters for work set up to tow 3500kg and they stand the stick they get . The Traffic is back at the dealer for the last 3 or 4 days but has done 45k trouble free. Love the colour of your car , looking for A RS 250 in that colour . Got to go to Huntington next week Is that far from your neck of the woods?
