21 Turbo Amrits Red Rocket

So now i'm waiting for the pictures from Amrit where he's taken off the brackets I made in the engine bay and had them nicely powdercoated...

HINT HINT.

Soon .......
Once I've sorted the alternator.........
But you done such a beautiful job that it's a shame to cover the brackets........
:ag:

New ignition barrel today and a tweak to the fan settings.

Think Amrit said it's done about 3500 miles since its return to the highways.

IT'S BACK :help.gif:

The heater controls have been dickey for a while and I found a brand new heater slide panel on eBay (what the the chances?!) so we decided to do the heater matrix as well, and as the dash was out look at why the oil pressure gauge wasn't working.

This thing is a wiring NIGHTMARE. Everything installed save the Adaptronic has been fitted with absolutely no forward thinking of ease of removal. The wiring is a catastrophe.

Jesus Christ - that is a veritable rats nest.
That's the problem with these cars - they have been so cheap for so long that nobody in the past has bothered to do things properly so it's all a quick job or a bodge. KOR was the same with the fan controls, clutch and radio when I got it.

As that switch has a 'wiping' contact then clean away the raised splutter and apply small amount of silicon grease (assuming its not a dusty location). This stops this effect and makes a much better electrical contact

We have a brand new one to replace it with but I will try that and pass the panel on to Lee A as his is dodgy too I think.

Wanted the dash back in today but the weather has delayed the heater matrix which being the first item back in has stuffed the reassembly. Instead I set about replacing all the little bulbs in the instrument console and switches.

Pulled the speedo cable out as Amrit was whinging the speedo was wobbly, ran WD40 through it and span the cable with a drill then let it drain out a bit and then lobbed some silicone grease in there and refitted it.

Dave, what does the oil pressure sender look like on the 21T? Is it the same as the 19 16V one and hopelessly unreliable?
The 21 splits the oil pressure sensors in to two separate items, not sure if the 19 does that or is a combi sensor? There's a switch and a mushroom pressure sender which is similar to whats used on the 5/9/11/etc
