21 Turbo Amrits Red Rocket

The 21 splits the oil pressure sensors in to two separate items, not sure if the 19 does that or is a combi sensor? There's a switch and a mushroom pressure sender which is similar to whats used on the 5/9/11/etc

Yeah, 2 sensors on the 19, mushroom one with a single spade terminal for operating the pressure gauge when it's running, and a separate switch next to the filter just for the low pressure light I think.

There's probably not a single one still working on 19s that hasn't been replaced at this point. Chris Hall cuts them open and repairs them.

I think on the 19s there were 2 types - a white one on early cars and then a black one (modified design maybe) later on. Anyway, both types are crap and NLA I believe.

FAE 14970 looks like it might work as a replacement and the part number cross references to the 21T sensor Renault part number but they are quite expensive and I don't want to spend out without confidence that it works on a 19.

OK, so you just banged 12v straight into to see if it moved? I thought you were being a bit more scientific than that!

Been having cold start issues lately, then also it started running hot and fans not coming in at the right time. Seemed to be getting worse so I had Amrit drop it at mine, because he drives it anyway and will end up blowing it up.

Sourced some brand new sensors for it, both the sensor in the stat housing and the one that drives the dash gause - i'll fit and map it in to the ECU setting this week and see where we are. If it doesnt make a difference i'll have to pull all the wiring out and look for break, chafing, water damage etc.

Well, the didnt work and it turns out we have another idle valve failure. thats the second brand new idle valve thats gone tits up.

I've now fitted a Phase 2 stepper type OE valve and it seems to have resolved the issues. Got a few more tweaks to do to idle and it should be sorted.

So this time the red rocket decided to challenge us by snapping the V-Band off the back of the cast wastegate housing :O

New one now fitted (£196 from ATP - savage!) and looking at the quality difference I wonder if we were sold a copy/fake initially, it came from AET in the UK.

Also fitted brand new engine and gearbox mounts to try and stop the movement of the engine under load a bit. It's certainly a lot stiffer now.

In for a wheel bearing, of course all the bolts rounded out, and yes, the bloody tap I was using to clean the threads also snapped :( what a sodding game!

Pads have seen better days too, and one of the calipers is goosed, the dust seal has fallen apart. Discs also badly worn so now shopping for front brakes.

snapped a tap, you know they need some finesse, and not ham fisted gorrilla hands hanging off them yeah?

did you get it out or did you leave it in like a pikey?

I've never broken one before I was surprised. Put it down to a faulty M7 tap, managed to get it out, tried again with another tap and broke that one as well LOL. I guess it went a bit too tight or something I dunno. I got that one out too and then greased a bolt up and ran it in & out of that hole with an airgun, that sorted it haha... the rest the tap ran in & out no problem.
