Phone Peugeot and ask for part number 597077
Cost £20.67 +VAT Sagem part number 2526140A BINGO!!!! :D

I've just had one fail and replaced with rug part at virtually 1/2 cost !!!!!

Just to keep everyone up to date with the coils issue the Peugeot part number has now been changed to 597094 and it 's now £24.29 + VAT (still cheaper than Renault though !!!) but more importantly it's not a sagem part any longer, I bought mine as a spare and fitted it at the weekend and it runs fine [smilie=cool.gif]

I had one go faulty after leaving her in my garage in winter time (Still pissed all over a Ford ST Fiesta), renault replaced under warrenty. Then almost a week to the day had another go so after a long winded conversation with the renault extended warrenty people. They agreed to replace the 3 along that bank, funny realy as if it were a 4 cylinder they would replace all 4 regaurdless of which had gone (acording to Renault Kettering who were actually realy helpful). Been told by a friend that all the 24 valve v6 engines suffer same fault. (Look how long it took them to admit problem with the bonnet catch there worse then BT never there fault.)

very true well said everything is a pain in the arse nowadays as its never anyones fault everyone just passes the buck :( i think cos we are to soft bet in europe they have fixed them free off charge

just out of interest

has anyone every spoken to that jeremy townsend (think thats his name)

he seems helpfully and knowledgable on cliosport

will he not confirm if the powers that be know about this problem and are going to replace everyones for free etc?

another one just went again, its the second inside of 18 months and i aint a happy dog [smilie=evil.gif] . ive worked out hwhich it is from the excellent guides on here but isnt there something about resetting the light thats come on aswell? also theres about a dozen replies as to what the part number is and if pug dealers stock them? replies would be appreciated! many thanx

One just gone, is there any point posting here still? have we got enough issues to put this forward to renault.

A high percentage have failed against the number of cars produced.

I have just purchased a clio v6 05 plate and signed up to this site. What happens when the coils go. Warning lights etc.. does engine cut out?

cheers

Misfire, loss of power, and it sounds rough.

You should get a warning light.

If your running cats don't drive too far as you may poisen them with unburnt fuel.

Another coil gone for me too. :(

Mk2 @ 45K miles

Thats 2 now in total! [smilie=evil.gif]

Luckily I carry a spare these days!

I think its the damp that causes them to fail. It would be intresting to know how many keep there cars in a garage, as mine was fine until I started putting it in my garage then I had two fail so may be a factor in the failier rate?

Garage-

Loudman 2 Coils

Outside-

Mine is parked in a garage since new,I am afraid to say that I never got a failed coil,at 29.800km will maybe get one tomorrow morning ???!! [smilie=hide.gif]

Probably in the wrong place but

roughly how much are people paying for their new coils, standard and trophy?

Luckily we haven't had to spend out yet but I'm sure the time will come! Wondering if its worth up grading to the trophy coils before problems start. Do they just fit in place of the original ones or is any sort of adaption needed?

Thanks
Dave

The Pug coils mentioned in this thread cost about £30 each.

Trophy coils cost about £450 including connectors to replace the standard Renault ones. (contact SG Motorsport for these)

I think my 1st one has gone at 7500 miles. its been in my garage for about a week and a half and its been freezing. I started the engine and it sounds a bit chuggy. When i put my foot down I dont think its got as much power as before and doesnt feel as smooth acceleration. No warning lights have lit up though. Does this sound like a coil failure or is it cos I have not used it for a wile. cheers

It is the coil. Can you change my vote to one. its being fixed now but it has took them 3 days as they had to order the coil in.

The ign coils are a problem on the 24 v6 in laguna and clio, you will get a coil gone down. if you look at the coils you are looking for a blue spot this means it the new tyre and as yet a have not seen any more problems.
might be worth checking yours.
mk1's you can only check one bank the other bank you cant see all the coils due to inlet manifold
mk2's you can see.
might be of some help.

Well the inevitable happened last night !!! Coil failed, I managed to replace it with the spare that I carry, and then 20 yards down the road it's back onto 5 cylinders :s :( , just wondered has anyone else had a similair situation where 2 coils have failed so close together ? I've just ordered 2 more spare coils from my local Peugeot dealer and hopefully I'll have my Vee back up and running tomorrow night.

One other thought the failure happened when there was lots of electrical load on the car ie:heater on full, wipers, headlights, rear heated windscreen all on - possible link or just coincidence ?

Cheers,

Phill
