How many coil failures have you suffered whilst owning your V6?

All the renaults have coil faults "coil over plug" As they say the dogs on the street even fnow about it.

So am I correct in assuming the only way of resolving this problem for deffinate is to replace with trophy coils??

how much does a coil cost?

I know a guy at work had them fail in his megane (just a std ish car) and Reno picked up a % of his bill. The garage that did the repair advised him to get in touch with Reno as its a common fault.

Trophy coils is one way to solve the problem, however i believe there was a bad batch of coils and the new ones renault now supply are fine,

My car had sagem coils fitted the new ones from renault have no make on them.
 
Had none go on my vee (yet!) but the Sagem coils that are fitted to Peugeots are totally useless aswell!!!!
106 GTi ones are always going wrong, as are the 306 S16 and GTi-6 ones and the 306 ones look the same as the vee ones.
Think it was just a major problem with Sagem as the new Peugeot ones you get are not long made by them either!
 
Never had a coil failure yet, is it inevitable? Or are there any high milers out there that have never had new coils?
 
been for a run to the lakes this weekend, had one fail on the way home and had to limp back :(

So whats the crack, anyone know the Renault part number?

Which type is it best to go for?

also are the coils the same o any other typ of reno? just that on my 172 engine the coil pack is a unit, i.e. the coils are not seperate items? if it broke you would have to replace the full unit.
 
Just spoken to my local reno garage and ordered the coils... I asked if they are doing anything about it and they said that reno had agreed to extend the warranty on the V6 coils for an extra year after the waranty ran out. So effectivly covering them for 4 years, something he called a yellow OTS.

Anyway, no help to me as mines 5 in may.

However, I have ordered 2 coils so that I have a spare :)
 
Another one of my coils went today, thats three now.

Called the AA and the bloke came out checked it, went to renault picked one up, came back and fitted it, wahoo :wink:

Driving with a failed coil will cause probs - main/worst one being the cats failing from whats been posted previously on here
 
Ooops did a good few miles on 5 cylinders!! I would hope the exhaust was hot enough to burn the fuel off :roll:

Anyway, new coil fitted last night, all is well again, took longer than necessary as I removed the full engine cover :oops:

It was the one nearest the passenger seat that had broken.....
 
Hi all

2 with first owner and one with me 3 days after I got it cost £155 not a penny of GOOD WILL seeing as Ren UK know its a problem
 
Just had another coil go today driving down the M4 on the way to work.

Limped into the Renault Garage and its being fixed under warranty today.

Could you put me down for 2 faulty coils now. :D
