I also read vibration of a loose pencil coil can cause premature failure so perhaps make sure any replacement coils are torqued up correctly :-)

I also wonder if the Trophy coils have a more positive engagement on the spark plug also ???? But certainly with 2 bolts holding them in position, rather than one on the stock coils, the Trophy ones are NOT going to vibrate.

hi ozbird, there has been a lot written on coils,
as jainy say she has had two coils go in the same cylinder in a month.
there must be something which caused these two coils to go in the same cylinder the only thing it can be is the plug.
to change a coil and not to change a plug in my opinion is madness, no one really knows what kills the coils but the plug could be the answer.

Hi Martin,

My Clio had a small service last week while she was at Renno for a new coil. They tell me she will need new plugs and belt next service and that it's an engine out job (ie. start saving up now!) I've never really looked into this properly as I haven't had to pay for a major service on a Vee yet, but I had thought replacing the plugs was a difficult and expensive job that you don't want to do too often!

hi ozbird, changing the plugs is a easy job if you have the corect tools,
dont buy them from the dealer, they are under half the price in our local bosch dealer.
if you need any help or advise i am local to you and can assist.
i think you met my wife over the renault dealer a few months back.

I cant miss this:

Gotlandring001.jpg

Correct!

Atm there are only clubs driving there, and regular trackdays.
I think that they wait for their license, to start host some race-series.

I'm involved in www.speedlab.se, and I hope that we will visit gotland ring next season with www.nordicsupercar.com

9 hours to go before the boat leaves thowards Gotland :P
Performancebox, cameras packed hehe

had a coil go on 22000
and then another shortly after about 100 miles
and the previous owner also replaced two.
so four gone in total on mine. :(
