[8 May, 2015] 30 years of the 5 GT TURBO (in france) (Route de Bourges)

I've been having a think about this trip, and speaking to some of the regular Euro trippers ( @Mart @Kris M @Brigsy @Sheryl_O @DaveL485 ) about extending it by a few days to see a few more things and have created a little presentation to explain what I'm thinking (see PDF attachment to this post).

It's a bit of a pain in the bum that La Châtre is right in the middle of France and a fair journey for us Brits going over there, so I've tried to split the trip up into smaller journeys so we're not doing too much driving??

This isn't by any means a definitive list of what we could do, just some places that come highly recommended and I thought would be a good place to stop off to see with our wives/girlfriends to ensure they get something out of the weekend rather than just looking at Turbo Renault's all weekend ;)

Look forwards to hearing what you think? :)

looks great maybe i take a litle time to meet up.
but i am also going to the FCS so i let you guys know up front what i do.
2 trips in 2 months pfff i didnt win the jackpot just yet.:read.gif:

the french guys have a road rally planed on the sunday morning after breakfast.

Tempting Steve. I'm defo doing 5-day Spa/'ring trip later in the month though so i need to assess finances and costs and see if both are do-able!

Just thinking out loud but writing it down as someone may find it useful.

Route proposed = 1477km, thats 918 miles
Plus 180 miles from Coventry to the Chunnel and 180 miles back thats 1278 miles.....lets say 1300 miles.

Fuel at 30mpg in the Clio : 1300/30 = 43.3 gallons = 197L @ £1.10/L = £217 (or)
Fuel at 25mpg in the 21 : 1300/25 = 52 gallons = 236L @ £1.10/L = £260

Hotels for 4 nights @ (lets say) average €50 a night = £40 * 4 = £160ish (**Shared room may halve this cost**)

Food, drink, beer easily another €50 a day = £40 * 4 = £160ish

That makes it about £580 plus another £100 just for kicks and souveniers, round it up to £700.

This ^^ pretty much matches up with what I spent on last years trips, £500-£700, but remember you need a backup fund in case anything goes wrong!

Hi @marcel,

I've not looked at any hotels yet, but looking on hotels.com or similar, there's plenty of places nearby for not much money. The old Campanille hotels can't be beaten really :)

Yeah please share TurboRenault's ideas with the Dutch and German forums.. would be great to visit a few more places with them? :friends.gif:

Don't forget to add on the costs of the toll-roads. I've just come back from Orléans (which would be en route to La Chatre) and that was toll-roads all the way from/back to Calais.

When the charges come through, I'll edit/update this post.

£62.77 was the toll-roads charge.

Hello turbo friends were on this as well going with Rtoc but that's not really going to work as we traveling from Ireland to Cherbourg via ferry on our own, so we booked hotel notre dame aswell some other members of rtoc have done so too. Can't wait for this event to happen and hope both turbo clubs from the uk have a epic weekend together regards rob.
PS Ideally we would take the 21 for the euro trip but as its 30years of the 5 gt we will be in a 5:drinks.gif:
