Clio 5-door Clio Sport Build - dreaming...

Hi All,

I'm interested in building something interesting (or at least not boring) as a runabout but practicality and cheapness are the most important criteria.
I'd always fancied some sort of RenaultSport Clio or similar but I need 5 doors... How practical would it be to buy a knackered standard 5-door Clio and a project 172 or 182 and transfer all the running gear across?

Or do I just get a Megane - I think there are 5 door "hot" versions?

Just dreaming ;-)

easy to do on the clio, start with a petrol. Has been done previously actually. Had this thought recently though as i was considering a family lugger that wasnt too big. Modus with a 172 swap....... or even a scenic with an f4r swap, they did it in a 2ltr i think but not the renaultsport engine and im sure ive seen it done also so would most likley be an easy swap

then the mind wonders, anything that fits in a clio 2 should then go in too or be able to be done, f4rt........

or you could go for a 5 door meg as its already done but then wheres the fun in that (y)

Thanks All! I'll give it some thought.

I just fancied building something unusual - I must admit to quite liking the Modus idea...

Interesting polarised opinions - some say it's easy, some say it's not worth the work. We'll see! I've a project or two to finish first. Need to get rid of the other half's Skoda Citigo. It's got the stuipidest automatic gearbox ever invented. A single clutch automated manual. We think it's actually dangerous because it can leave you with no power whatsoever while it changes gear when it wants to, not when you do...
