Mann Egg sticker needs to come off, but it's on heated element, so needs a bit of care, otherwise It'd had blade on it....any suggestions? Heat? thinners?

Little bit of gentle heat will soon have that brittle old plastic softening up and able to be removed.... or melting and dripping off whilst sticking to your fingers giving you severe burns... 🤷🏼‍♂️

So much love for this car, and if I was to have a son, this is exactly the car he would be getting from me... I hope your boy has at least some appreciation of this car you’ve built him and what it means to all us other old farts.. 😂

I tried flatting trampy one and polishing......and it started to break up in my hand, so it got superglued back together and put in, it's yellow through and through, not just UV damaged on lense face.
Pictures flatter the car, so number plate light doesn't bother me, I'm not aiming high.....it'll be a job for charver, if he wants to.
I dropped a period Sony head unit in it, so I can have Radio 4 on when I drive it.....one speaker bolloxed and only CD player works....so no Radio 4......

Wheels before, surface rust and rattle black by previous,

Thnners, wire brush and some 180 grit,

Three coats of primer,

Flat with 400, etch where it was through to metal, one coat of primer, then three/four of black celly with little gravity gun, was only a tenner from scratch doctor and it's fookin ace, much better than syphon touch up gun......if you've got a compressor get one of these, even if you buy some celly kit, don't feck about with rattles,

Ran out of time, but think I'll scotch them up and put a coat of two pack lacquer on, give them a bit of depth and it'll last much longer,

He's over the moon with the car, I've perhaps not involved him as much as I wanted, but with car being so bad and him doing his A levels, we haven't had the luxury of playing about a bit more.
Many times I've had to shut the garage door and proper push on, but I always maintain that you should tackle the worst bits first whilst you've got the 'new toy' interest levels.
I smile and keep my trap shut when he mentions engine swops, I don't know what the future holds long term for it, whether he keeps it and mods it, who knows, insurance will always be the limiting factor, he'll get insured far easier for a 182/197 Clio in few years than the 5 with a TCE lump in it?
For the last few years we've have had a holiday together, just me and him, and we're tempted to take the 5 to the south of France for giggles....

Got wheels lacquered, they were black, now they're dark black....forty quid rims and tyres, painted with stuff off shelf other than rattle primer, I'm happy

Certainly an improvement from Iranian donkey cart specials, set up for grabs....

Banged them on, missing two centre caps, and can't find a part number, might post a pic up and see if anyone has any, but think it looks quite well now, bigger wheels fill arches, dropped a bit and colour coding......quite smart

Saturday trip over Sandbach way to get exhaust from Richard, preloved pattern centre, Genuine Renault back box, Bosal front pipe and a couple of the silly sealed housing filters.
Centre had been on a car but done little work, bit of rust on welds, so rattled some galvo paint on after a wire brush

Flew on a treat, thanks to @Brigsy number plate light to replace tramps toenail one arrived, cut with some G3 and it's a corker......except trampy one on car is a SIDLER ......so bulb holder is slightly different.
Bumholes.....

Nothing on tailgate was working, and this is why...

2019-06-17 193745-1775157.JPG

All cut back and soldered up, heat shrink on, just need some rubber tape wrapping, number plate lights now work but wash wipe still in-op.....found fuse had gone, replaced, not sure how it's powered though, one wire is IGN perm live, one goes live when switch is pressed one goes to earth on tailgate, had my doubts about quality of earth and whilst probing about discovered earth from motor is showing live....?
If in doubt, take it out, hence wiper delete kit fitted, blanking grommet......it's the fashion I hear.
Pressed plates on, nice.

Last job today, replace speakers, as £12 specials had tipped up.....and they sound absolutely ........satisfactory.

Old ones were showing their years, I've mounted them under the original grilles each side of the parcel shelf, don't want any jealous scoundrels seeing my top quality ICE equipment and nabbing it.......

That’s at least eleventy times better in the sun.
Ta very much, It's not looking too shabby, think I'm a gnats cock off booking a test, next month should see it chasing local charvers in their Polo bread vans......Nah I won't..........

I will, just for giggles....

With a slight bit of choppage to the bulb holder it should go in the new numberplate light. I had to make some fit last year :grin.gif:
