3 Door 5 Campus

looks sweet that i really like it. Would go well with a cheeky modernish d4ft engine in there...... :D

It's his only transport ATM, when orange lump is ready I'll consider surgery on it, but even D4ft is gonna take some parts bin feckin about , mechanical recipe is part there, just the electrical garnish that would need some thunk time

Bit of an expense but an aftermarket ecu would solve 99% of them issues. But decent power and in a 5 chassis it would probably return over 50mpg.....

Keep mulling over something similar myself tbh

See what happens, it's such a good shell now, I can't see us getting rid, even when he moves on to 225, TCE transplant would give enough oomph to be worth doing, can't imagine any added weight penalty, prices are right, just having the time, room and inclination to bother.

Right, Spadger has been threatening that the 5 is going back on the road , then going.....but not much has happened his end.
Time to take matters in hand, must be 5 years or so since this first hit the road, at two and a half perhaps since 225 took it's place, been sat waiting for I don't know what....daft engine transplant ideas come and go, but in reality it's not happening .
I haven't the vision, or the will to go down that route, so quick once over and get a test on it, work commencing today.

I knew at least front tyres were shot, wiper blades as well, the rest I was fairly confident would be fine, so started at the driver's back, drum off , quick scuff up and click shoes up a bit, then into drivers front, rotary wire brush rust off, scuff with 60 grit , scuff pads up , bit of cops slip everything thing is going dandy.

Then noticed rubber link petrol pipe to the block looked cracked, I'd replaced this first time around, but it was shot.

Rest looks as it did when I finished it, only front subframe had started to rust on lower

Moved onto passenger rear and that's where it all went pear shaped, peeled rubber back on brake cylinder and it pissed out, onto front , boots off driveshaft, caliper sliders were seized and bottom ball joint rubber split.

I started with gloves on, all nice and tidy , ended up sea of tools, gloves chucked in the air, black hands and a shopping list a big bigger than I thought.
Plan is, get it sorted, get it tested, get it shiny, get it gone.
When it's all done and clean I'll get a proper ad on here, before it goes on fleabay or something.
Offers invited, value I'm not set on yet, be must be worth a bit as a three door non sunroof shell.

TBC.....

Small list to keep you entertained😁 nice easy recomission.

Im forever changing leaky rear cylinders. They never last long.

Most fuel hose these days is crap, ive had similar fail in a short period. Ive been using cohline 2240 r9 spec, that seems to last.

Yep, just swapped 225 fuel hose for cohline, supposed E10 compatible I put on last year was fooked, luckily bit I had left was perfect for 5, just found a couple of balljoints in shit stock, so I'll order some cylinders and a strap for shaft.
Got my mincers on a pre loved pair of tyres for front, need to push on and get it ticked off

Had an afternoon on him , couple of rear cylinders, n/s bottom balljoints, forgot to get a crimp driveshaft boot whilst I was in factors, so I've put a stainless cable tie on for now as I didn't want to get shit all over the shop whilst I did ball joint.
Flushed fluid through.....well squirted all over shop, couldn't get eeezibleed to seal on res, took me a while , then remembered I'd lent it out and they'd put thicker gasket on, swopped back to thin one and all was well, half a litre of fluid on deck later.
Thought I'd better clean drive up, so two birds, one stone , sprayed a bit of degreaser in bay and gave it a scrubb up.

Think we've had our moneys worth out of forty quid Twingo rims and Contis , two internet jumble sale , eco, Preloved Continentals await in garage

Once you start, you can't stop, flick over with some Autoglym super resin polish and he's starting to look happier for himself, trim is hungry for feed, that'll take a few goes
I ain't going barmy, no clay bar, paint correction , just get him bright and presentable.

Need to check caliper on o/s , cos I never checked slider when I cleaned disc up.
He'd been used as a Meg 225 shed, so I cleared four wheels and some other bits out of boot, rear seat was down and it was squashing back rest , no harm done.
Hopefully get a ticket on next month, he's added 5 onto his insurance, but renewal is not until early Sept, looking forward to getting back out, then unless he has other thoughts , get gone.
End of an Era......

fantastic looker
It's a ten footer really, I know it's little faults paint/bodywise.
I'd forgot how tidy it looked spruced up though, bearing in mind it's clocking forty years old.
It'll suit someone who wants to upgrade mechanical side, without having grot or paint worries/time/expense , unless they want a show pony....which it ain't.
