21t Ductile iron liners

Also then if the liners work out good, we would get the opportunity to purchase some and sell them on, probably to the french guys etc.

But you cannot do this as a non-profit organisation unless you only break even. In that case you are risking funds for zero gain, which is craziness.

Are you guys that against spending on something obviously beneficial like the website? Why not have a new section where we can upload all our documents, no need for hyperlinking to our own photo accounts, no rows about thumbs. I've got BOXES of stuff...i'm fooked if i'm scanning it AND hosting it AND linking it all myself.

God damn, this has really niggled me now. F*ck all happens for ages then all of a sudden the 'club' wants to invest money in bloody liners with legally guaranteed f*ck all return, that likely 50%+ people will never need/want.

WTF!?!?

mmm

as the advert goes, simplz.
we are not profit making.
we have costs in the club.
for example only.
if the profit from the sale of the liners does not exceed the costs that the club has during the year, we are not profit making.
if the sale of something generates ?100 profit from the cost of the goods.
we have ?100 to spend on other things like organizing paid up events.
not sure if your getting the picture mate, more money generated by the club means more things for the members.

This a problem I am seeing within this club that when an idea or a suggestion that could solve a parts availability problem, it gets shot down and the person(s) who suggested the idea the loose the enthusiasm to continue and thus the idea stagnates or falls by the way.
I know that we all haven?t got time or large volumes of money but we need to start to pool the ideas & resources so it is centralised or co-ordinated and not in an ad? hock manor and ideas that come to fruition are sourced from one or two suppliers who specialise in that particular item? Just to keep things simple.
Some of these ideas will naturally be out of the question due to costs but some times the little suggestions could be more than viable than first envisaged.

Even IF the club were to proceed with a purchase of 10 sets of liners (example), those that are not sold via pre-order would remain the property of the club until sold, and if those liners cost ?60 each to make they could be sold for ?70 and the ?10 difference would go into the next R&D/ purchase and so on.

I have more than a few little projects / ideas (oil jets is one) floating around and once sorted I will share them.
Our friends over the channel seem to be able get things sorted and surely we could liase with them on mega group buys, which would allow greater buying power.

Now if it is possible, allow those people who wish to contribute to the manufacture of a set of liners for testing to pay via the donate button along with a specific phrase / request so it can be identified for that purpose?

Rich
ps; I may add to this later??

Idea : What if an offshoot to the 21toc was set up - like a subsidary.

21TOC R & D for instance.

If you want to be in it , throw I dunno , ?20 , on a project you are intrested in , if it fails it fails , if the part ( s ) work then the 21toc R & D gets a finincial return , and you chip in ?10 next time until it become sustainable ?

Absolutely agree with you here mate.

Also, I haven't tried to shoot the plan down, I have objected to club funds being spent on something when the core of said club is lacking. Thats like blowing ?2000 on a paint job when the sills and chassis rails are rotten.

hi folks,

I risk being shot at for raising this thread again :-) but did we ever get anywhere with these liners? Or did the idea go to sleep? Jo?

I've not been on here much in last couple of months, work and finally stripping the 21 down... lots of rust to stare at so not been typing much

cheers
