21 Turbo 21t cams

I'm debating a cam again. I can't seem to find any old threads so starting a new one. Although Catcams have some nice ideal specs they are not an option atm.
The Europacup had good lift but had too much overlap for big boost. Re grinds of the std is obviously an improvement but I don't think offer enough lift.
What's out there?

Haha. I know, but I'm seeing what's actually available.
The cups did and would have probably been the best cam to try but would have devalued if it was used even just for testing so the money was better used on other things at the time. Due to the overlap, it will have a rally lumpy idle and as revs climbs high, that boost may just be going straight through the cylinders so not using it efficiently.
As there's little info on the cup stuff I compared to the cup Gtt's which have increased boost but not much more revs. There's better, more modern versions nowadays.
Providing I can get the right cam and it all flows ok to allow it, 2bar and 7500 revs.

You just listed pretty much all options.

You know enough to know what traits you want so as I see it you need to decide regrind or billet, cost may dictate regrind so why not ask Andy if he wants to sell his now he has a billet number :-)

and steel rods...................or do I just strip the engine and replace the rods and piper regrind with the catcams billet........................or sell the lot...............

I've emailed piper yesterday, see what they come back with.
The engine that was in the 21 had a blue rocker and was told some fettled engines had them. There's also the possibility that it may have been radbournes car, again things may have been changed. I'll have to look over the bits again.
The cam will be as far as I'm going to go this time round just to save mapping it twice.
Which Andy Dave? Any idea on specs? With vernier and springs? It's more timescale than being too fussy.
I'll take a chance with the rods as it may not want to rev that far anyway but hoping to time the cam enough to have the power band around 4500-6500

Whereas I know very little and just said to Piper 'I want my horses numbers as high as possible' they sent me what they sent me, I have rally idle, Scoff loved it and at £160 so did I.

My knowledge is gleamed from phoning others, @DaveL485 @stu21t @Andyquadra and @Lee_R21Turbo are my sources and I generally do what they tell me

Tell you what Dave, once I've sold the gearbox, wheels and got the money for the turbo. You come down and we'll fit the billet cam and steel rods and I'll have for sale a piper 276 regrind that's only run for 1/2 hour on idle and a brand new catcams vernier pulley that's still in the box?
@DaveL485 you can still get head sets and liner seals?

Err, isn't the cam supposed to be bedded in at 3k+ for 10mins??

So does anyone have any cam for sale or are you all teasing with bits you'll never use :negative.gif:

Worth a nosey thanks. Actually just going through various on the shelf items from various suppliers to figure out what's the best spec other than a billet option.
