2019 update -How many V6 left? More ph 2 are SORN in Summer for 1st time ever.

I was trying to work out why it jumped up and down so much. They also seem to go back and revise old figures randomly.

I cant think of many 255's that have been exported or written off this past year. Only 2 off the top of my head. One to France, one to southern Ireland.

I keep an eye out for breakers and write off's. Haven't seen any new ones pop up for a long time.

The train of cars coming to the UK from HK and Japan seems to of slowed down recently.

281 Phase twos registered in the UK on DVLA database.
I believe the Howmanyleft numbers are slightly lower as they may not include Jersey, Isle of Man or any cars which are incorrectly registered on the DVLA database (some show up as CLIO SPORT, CLIO, UNKNOWN and even one is registered as a LAGUNA!).

interesting Duncan and good news . so that's about 35 more than show upon howmanyleft who use the DVLA. That's a lot of miss coded cars or ones sold to the tax havens!

January 2019
I have updated the numbers table in the first post with figures for 2017 and 2018.
So for the first time ever there were more V6 ph 2 SORN in the peak summer 3rd quarter than taxed. That happened with the ph 1 back in 2016 and is now at the point where a huge 2/3rds of Ph 1 are SORN in Q3 and only a third on the road in the Summer.
So is the car becoming more of a museum piece and investment than something to drive? It appears that the recent rise in values means more and more people are not driving them, not even in the Summer which is a shame.
Interestingly there was a slight increase in total numbers of Ph2 (up by 8 cars from 245 to 253) which reverses the trend of the past. Ph 1 was steady showing a drop of only 2.
Again we know this is not 100% accurate but just shows trends but the figures don't usually go up so maybe some people are now SORN cars officially that have in the past not be visible on the DVLA system if they have been off the road a decade or more? Maybe these super low mileage investor cars that are appearing?

£$£

I put money as my initial thought, but have been thinking since.

Those who need investments?
Keeping your whole collection on the road is costly?
Couldn’t afford to run it last year?
Too busy to use it?
Too aged or ill to use it?

When they were new, they were hard to find, and in a little while they will be very old and hard to find. I think the Clio V6 is such a great unique car that it may challenge the minds of typical retro car collectors. Possibly those who have enjoyed and sold up while they are drivable could end up the winners.

My New Years resolution is to get cambelt sorted & drive the Vee more. Been SORN for over 12 months now [emoji22]

Best thing is getting out and about in the cars and to shows and track days etc. The V6 is such a stunning car in photos and in the flesh its one of those ones that stays on your mind when you're driving home from the show and that's what plants the seed. Did for me anyway :) Like has been said above, if nobody ever sees them they will fall off the radar as people simply forget they exist when thinking of their next car purchase.

Amen to that!

It was quite remarkable how few Renault Sports cars featured at Silverstone Classic 2018.
Particularly as the UK has a renowned appetite for such.
