Clio 197 engine swap into 1 of the 33 Silver 172 Cup's

@Jezer101 and myself went for a jaunt to the local scrap yard today. Came away with a scenic shifter and Citroen c2 washer jets. The washer jets sit lower and give a wide spray rather than jets so make the car feel a touch more modern, They are also a direct fit. The shifter raises the gear lever up same as was fitted to my trophy a year or so a go. Will hopefully get it fitted soon.

If you need bits Adey, I'm building a f2000 rally car at the moment, so most standard parts are comming out of a 182 cup ff.

Also, seeing as you have Clip.
Easy way to check engine condition/cam timing without revolving any parts, is to get engine warmed up, go into injection, engine parameters, manifold pressure and look for the mb at idle, you should see 380mb at hot idle, anything nearer atmospheric pressure means cam timing is out.

excellent info cheers buddy. will definitely be checking that one later. Dephaser is really noisy so not sure how much that could throw it out or if its just a noise?

Still no further running issues, cutting out or fault codes since cleaning connections and fitting the second hand spark plugs and the new gaskets (touch wood)

I dont know what happens when the dephaser rattles, one assumes its phasing the cam around when it shouldnt be. The phased state is normally activated at 1450rpm and 800mb manifold pressure and it advances the timing 16 degrees on the inlet. Its a simple switched earth plunger thing that uses oil pressure fed through the cam to actuate it. The later variants I think use a similar setup but utilise PWM control to vary the cam timing with by-degree control but the ol' 172 is 16° advanced or nothing.
For info, it dephases again at 6800rpm which is why power bombs up there.

So a week ago @Jezer101 and I co purchased another cup with some choice bits fitted but needing a clutch release bearing. He has been busy removing bits from it as it's at his house and this eve the suspension made its way over to mine. FK Konigsport Coilovers with AST top mounts. All fitted up but needs a little adjustment, that should be able to wait until the weekend but looking loads better for it. 20161027_153049.webp 20161027_173202.webp 20161027_173137.webp

Also a few days ago the engine management light came on for a downstream lambda. Cleared and hasn't returned yet.

I'd like a wheel like that for GTT

Found 10 min to fit a replacement wiper stalk and indicator stalk with the horn button. I then swapped out the steering wheel for one from the spares car. I also fitted @Ricardo carbon button plate but actually have no use for it, it just looked cool lol20161102_173108.webp

its a little ropey but will do for now until funds allow a nice renaultsport item

its not that bad in the day light, momo race or something, alot better than the oe one and closer to my short arms, though really shows how bad the tracking is out as it sits on the piss.
