Wiper fault

The T.I.B.

is rarely serious
OK this is definitely a techy one. Could do with some advice cos I can't get my wipers working

THE HISTORY:
a few weeks back the front wipers flicked on of their own accord. Not for long so I left it alone.

happened again a week or two later.

then last week they came on and stayed on. intermittent but not enough power for a full cycle, stopped halfway back down. kept doing it whenever i pushed the wipers back down again.
turned the engine off and the next morning the battery had been drained completely.

THE SITUATION:

I assumed a short somewhere from the symptoms.
Now the wipers won't even come on.

Tried another good stalk (thanks Ash!) - no change.

Took a multimeter between -ve and the wiper motor plug and got this:

et.com_albums_i233_tominbristol_wiper_motor_pinout.webp

Code:
stalk green white violet red
OFF +1.15V +1.15V 0 0
INTERMITTENT +1.35V +1.35V 0 0
REGULAR 0 +1.35V 0 0
FULL SPEED +1.35V 0 0 0
Any clues on where to start? The wiper fuse is ok and the wiring looks in good condition. could it be relay related even

Thanks Tom

OK UPDATE:

Swapped out the relay, no improvement.
Changed the stalk, no improvement.
Inspected the motor, looks fine inside (?) and the contacts are good.

What happens is the wipers work but judder, like they're down on power. Fast wipe won't even work. Then after a dozen or so wipes they run down and die, and blow the wiper and washer fuses.

PLEASE HELP!?!?! :)

thought you meant motor spindle.

the wiper arm spindles and linkage all look in reasonable nick but i might go back and check things with the motor unbolted. this is costing me a fortune in fuses alone lol
