Winter re-spec

Jon, just noticed that your Vee has become a bit of a hit on YouTube: LINK

Good to see it getting some stick! :approve: It's no doubt done more miles on the dyno now than it has on the road!!

You can hear from the video that it's not being taken past 4k rpm, as there is a misfire causing overfuelling, massive flames, and a general levelling off in power. Mechanically everything is A-ok so it's most likely an ignition or wiring problem. Scott is looking into it and seeing as it's back there it'd be rude not to add a few more bits and bobs. ;)

Small hiccup, but then that's what "being the first" usually entails!

Yes, noticed that there may be a problem. So its not the Janspeed, but an ignition/electrical issue? Keep me updated.

As regards the additions, you going for the Quaife ATB? I believe it is now back in stock.

Nope, definintely not the Janspeed; has been fitted to other cars with no problems. Decat's apparently tend to run a bit richer, but this isn't a bit ;)

It will be a trial and error and fault finding via elimination I expect. Problem at a specific point in the rev range points to electrical/ignition, but until Scott unleashes his technology we won't really know! All part of the fun though :)

I'll probably hold off on the Quaife until 2014, this is more a mod to enable another mod and something I've wanted to do for quite a while!! Oooo mysterious!!

How you finding the TTV flywheel? Made it feel like a different car for me!

Okay good to know that the Janspeed is not the cause. Reading your post above a second time only did I take note that your Vee is back with Scott. Agree that it is all part of the fun.

#002 is going to Scott on 2nd April for major engine-out surgery: cam/aux belt, water pump, TTV flywheel, Quaife ATB and possibly the Janspeed or alternative ;)

I am sure when I get it back it will be a very different Vee from the one I put in storage in October 2012! Can't wait...............

Brilliant news matey :approve: and you won't be disappointed. Keep me posted and we'll have to have a drive out when they're both finished!

Excellent, that would be fun. Are you not planning on making it to 'La Vie en Bleu - Prescott June 2nd 2013'? Last year my sat nav routed me through some fantastic roads :race:

Hope their not like the roads we went down to get to Goodwood ;) looking good Jon hope to see it in the flesh soon .how you been finding the bc coil overs and what sort of ride setup you gone for ,I've just had mine fitted and left them on factory setting ,also what top mounts you gone for ,cheers paul :approve:

The roads I took were fantastic and free of traffic - no off road excursions ;) You coming to 'La Vie en Bleu' Paul?

How do you find the BC coilovers?

I'm not sure yet dulan ,possibly. the bc 's feel great much more planted than before but early days with them yet probably more setting up to do though on ride height etc .

So the suspicions that the (brand new!) thermostat was a dud have been confirmed. This at least explains why the car was refusing to come up to temp. Issue one potentially solved then :approve:

Not sure when the car will be back as, seeing as it's with Scott again, it'd be rude not to tick another couple of things off the to-do list. ;) :)

Was going to text you. My car will definitely not be there (for obvious reasons!) and I think Nas had picked up some work now, so his won't either! Only a postponement mind, so I'll let you know when we rearrange as the results could prove interesting!

No worries Jon. Let me know when.........the plot thickens!

Good that it is being sorted. So can we safely say that next week's session at SRR is out then?

Yes indeed. Cancelled it this afternoon I was thinking of just getting my vee done since the last time I went I have had a plenum spacer and the vipercross induction kit fitted but then changed my mind. I am off that day so rather spend it home than go on my own. Its not really worth all the effort to go alone!!

Perhaps we should try and organise a SRR day? Should only need 5 or so to get some discount. Plenty of people dotted about the South with various modifications that may be curious to see what power their car is actually running?

CS quite often hold meets at SSR (the last one was last month). typically £30 to run the car. A few of us could join them if struggling for numbers?

Good option Duncan, but I'll see if there's any interest for a Vee only one first. From memory the last time this was tried there was enough interest, but the organisation dropped off.

Appreciate many (most?) won't be interested in this type of event for a variety of reasons, but as long as there were say 5-10 participants I think we could see some sort of 'group buy' type discount.

I would have put my name down for his if I had my (full) exhaust done, but that will not happen this year. However, would come to spectate.
