Winter re-spec

As there seem to be a few others opting for/considering the full Janspeed system but not liking the slash-cut pipes, I thought I'd whack a pic up of mine. If you get in touch with them direct they can offer it with the straight-cut tailpipes I opted for. Note that this will mean it'll take longer to be delivered as they have to be specifically machined and attached.

Looking good Jon. Can't wait to see (and hear) the Vee once all is done and dusted.......

Saw your other post about being torn between the RS4 and the Vee. I am sure you will make the right choice in the end, but whatever your choice may be both are fab so well done. :salut:

In the meantime enjoy both, at least for a while!

Pipes look much better then both the slash cut and the pokey wee ones on the Spike system.

Wheesht k-tec boy!

If only you were as quiet on here as your exhaust was

Cheers Duncan.

You probably don't remember this but it was between yours and Ed's Ph1 when I was buying in late 2009. I opted for Ed's in the end but the mods you had done to yours always stuck with me and with that the ph2 drivetrain---> ph1 seeds were planted. So it's all your fault basically. lol :)

I appolpgise to you and your bank balance!!!

However, you will now be able to easily change all six coils and enjoy a more spritely and lively car! :approve:

I have the full Janspeed with the slash cuts and think they look a bit gash. Do you know if they can provide something just to change the tips? Yours looks so much better with those pipes

Cheers

Yeah I didn't think they looked too bad Ali considering what the standard Janspeed tailpipes look like [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Would have liked the pipes a little bigger to be honest - more OMG size - but that's because I'm a Barry Boy at heart! Lol.

Sure it should be possible. Perhaps contact them direct? Failing that I'm sure an exhaust fabricator could knock you up a bespoke set and swap them over. Think others have done this in the past.

Haha. True!! But with Trophy Coils I shouldn't be having that problem ;)

Touch wood!!

How much work to fit and buy the trophy coils then Jon?
Looked in to it in the past but IIRC the inlets need drilling / tapping to fit?
Quite interested as still got my spare inlets ;)

Luckily (for my wallet) they were already fitted to the ph2 engine. It was a club car before its spectacular demise so perhaps a word with the governor and he could dig out some posts of how/when they were fitted - if such posts even exist!

Decision has been made and it's the..........RS4 that's getting the heave ho :)

I've realised that the Vee is too special and I've invested too much time and money to not finish the project. Funny that this all started way back in 2010 as an innocent seat and exhaust swap...!

Well done you [smilie=yay.gif]

Look forward to the Vee once is it all done and dusted.

Good choice! Now give me your K04's or drop the cossie lump in the back of a cat D vee next year! Lol

All joking aside, I very much doubt you will regret keeping the vee. Yes the RS4 is quite a special audi but I doubt it will hold its value like previouse models such as the UR, S1, RS2 etc. Very fast big saloons/avants are bloody brilliant but only if you use them on a day to day basis and you know how much I love my audi's. A 260+hp ph1 vee will be very special everytime you fire it up let alone drive it.

Cheers guys. Pretty sure I've made the right choice, but then I do have my wobbly moments. lol

I think you're right Brett about future values, not that I concentrate on or know much about such things!! The B5 RS4 is arguably the last of the non-mass market RS products - it is a bloody special car and I'm really glad I took the plunge. It's a real shame it has to go but I think the time is right. I will miss it's ability to blitz about, annihilating roads into submission but the vee is a different kind of enjoyment and it's also a much simpler beast, which really suits my basic mechanical knowledge!

Think my Vee will be between 260bhp and 270bhp and with the weight loss programme I'm gonnna put it on I think it should be usefully faster than a standard ph2. It's never going to set the world on fire but I've well and truely scratched the POWER itch I had but I will be back in a B5 RS4 one day when funds allow :)

Selling will release some much needed cash and I can see some money heading Quaife's way once it's sold ;)

Oh it will see off ph2's what with the already lighter shell. I wouldn't waste a penny looking at or even playing with the pk06 either. Make a bellhousing for a VAG 'box. It'll cost next to nothing and give you tons of off the shelf upgrades.

Completely agree regarding pk06, hoping the donor box is going to be ok!! Gonna rag it until it dies and then definintely replace with a transplant transverse gearbox. Was thinking Focus ST as (perhaps wrongly) I assume they'd be cheaper to get hold of?

I looked quite heavily into fitting a volvo M56/st gearbox. I came to the conclusion that for the same effort, there are better options.....like an Audi transaxles which offer huge benefits in other ereas. wink wink lol

Aww miss my V6 YAY brilliant model.

I love blue (it's my fave colour) but I prefer Illiad. I love how the wrap works though its a great job.

Great update though. Be gentle with her .
