Who would like to come onboard??

Who would like to come onboard a very twitchy Clio V6 Trophy with (a young looking) Rick at Misano back in 2001?
Courtesy of Duncan who is doing a great job putting my old videos on You-Tube, you can see exactly how nasty these cars were after we switched the rear sub-frames at Monza and before Renault Sport "remembered" to give us the correct bump stops...

Misano V6 Trophy

LOVE these videos's.! Thanks for sharing them with Duncan Rick. It's do good to see these cars in action. [smilie=thanks.gif]

Its a great video at Misano, thanks so much for sharing them with us Rick. You have brought the collation of data on massively.

Whilst I remember, I scanned in the article from Evo magazine when you drove all the various Clios in last week, you can get the PDFs here: Link

Couple of thoughts...
Firstly, very early in the Misano video you can see me fighting the Trophy over a chicane, looks mega hectic onboard (in the programme intro)...
Secondly I've added my thoughts to the Evo article thread... was a hell of a day out! The Trophy scared Jethro witless!

Looking forward to the other videos.... Monaco '01 is up, but I spent all weekend parked in the pits as 1st reserve... long drive not to race.

Superb video. I'm so glad that these are being resurrected to modern media. I'm really looking forward to the future instalments! : )

Hard to believe the Eurosport commentator still has his job even now..... couldn't tell a V6 trophy from a Clio cup racer in the first race.

The Assen video is up on the web too now... now THAT is a story...

Woke up to 80,000 spectators (Rizla free ticket day... Verstappen waving chequered flag..), and torrential rain. That didn't stop.

Got into assembly area ready to go and Michel Haydens, who was shall we say "well endowed", decided he needed a pee... but he didn't want to get mega wet running to the toilet. His buddy, Ian Khan, was already strapped in to the car behind, so Haydens simply relieved himself onto the front of Ian's Clio... Ian had nowhere to look...

The rain hadn't let up for the start, so coming onto back straight, someone loses it to the inside and cannonballs thru the pack. I was side-by-side with Ian, when suddenly he (and my passenger mirror) disappear. We never saw the dayglo yellow car he hit in 5th gear...

Then pretty uneventful (for a Clio race) apart from some overtaking under the safety car when they thought they were far enough away from race control to get away with it... usual sort of stuff...

Ian's comment? "Well at least I don't have to clean it now."

Assen

Haha, great to hear these stories Rick. Is Ian collision with the yellow car in the footage? I didn't spot Ian on the video.

I see Hayden's got his just deserts in the race, you can see him being towed later in the video.

Haha ... that race is almost like a rally cross with all the mud and water on the track before the safety car comes out!
