WARNING - RENAULT ILFORD!!

I saw ph1 iceberg LP51 0FD there today [smilie=icon_eek.gif] I hope they have new mechanics there. The guys on the front desk are great but what goes on behind the scenes I dont know. I take mine to Renault St Albans ie Waters nowadays for servicing etc. Quality service and great discounts ;) Even if it is 40 miles away but well worth it for peace of mind. Oh and they will let you see the work being done if you want :)

Sounds like Renault Cardiff. Who also managed to damage my breather pipe while changing oil, I don't believe they even did that. When I got back to collect my car, there were some spanner boys SAT on the rear of my car (on the wide areas) I quite rightly shouted get the F off my car. Turns out they'd also taken it for a spin and the car was giving me clutch problems after that.... It felt rough, like I was grinding something. Anyway, they didn't give me a work sheet, they had not even done the checks on the vehicle.

Bad experience for me. I just use Fish Bro and SG now.

haha wow, yeah that'd be me...

Sorry I occasionally lurk here, really should take a more active part but I'm just rude. Sorry!

My Renault main dealer experience was utterly, utterly mediocre from start to finish, but the problem was diagnosed and rectified so alls well that ends well, however, I'll drop the full story:

Previously dealt with Renault Slough: air con wasn't working, they recharged it but didn't bother spending 15 seconds testing to see if it worked, and it didn't work. Unfortunately my point of reference for servicing is a BMW main dealer and the difference is profound: Communication problems between dealers (and me), a general lack of professionalism inside the dealership and they return grimy cars; not what you really expect for circa £1k. Had to drive across London to get the car back to Slough, having had a full service and belt change, and having told them the air con needed looking at, in order for it to be diagnosed and rectified.

Finally diagnosed and burnt by Renault Slough + with it being such a pain in the arse to get to from my flat in Docklands I thought I'd get the air con done at Renault Ilford/East, diagnosed as a solenoid/sensor/yadayada, book it into Ilford/East after repeated phone calls, repeated on hold circles (you know the drill, you phone up, tell the receptionist you need to talk to the service desk, give them a name, it rings off the hook at the service desk, gets redirected to the receptionist who asks you what your name is, you get put through to the service desk...) and a general air of complete incompetence, get it booked in.

Show up at 8:30am on a miserable Tuesday morning in the (and I do hope no locals are reading this, if so I apologise in advance) soily orifice of Ilford which immediately puts you in a foul mood; they have no record of my booking. "How many V6s do you deal with regularly?" "not many these days" "oh... how about you search for a V6 then?". My number plate had been taken down incorrectly by Slough. In the background, whilst customers are in the showroom, there's a couple of giggling mechanics involved in some sort of homoerotic tag, slapping each other on the arse with oil soaked rags. Never a particularly encouraging sight. "It'll be ready by the end of the week max" (4 days).

After 2 days I phone for a progress report as I'm somewhat loathe to trust them. "Still done by the end of the week but it could slip, the approved RenaultSport technician is on holiday until tomorrow". 2 days later: Rings off the hook, unable to talk to anybody at service. Saturday: Nobody. Monday, nobody. Tuesday, nobody. At this stage you start getting mildly concerned, thinking that perhaps your car has come a cropper and they're being deliberately evasive. Wednesday I finally get through and talk to the technician: He's just got back from holiday, but the car was still booked in despite them knowing this. He sounded clued up so the relief masked my irritation. 2 days later the car is fixed (apparently a massive job involving the whole dashboard off, so obviously quality of the job is of concern). Go to pick it up: no additional mileage thankfully but they've left oily paper floor mats in the car, the first engine cover hadn't been screwed in and the second had just been perched on top, the car had been parked next to where they pressure wash cars for the valet service (which, obviously, I wasn't entitled to) so was covered in chalky water marks and I only got £5 quid back for "travel expenses". 5 quid. And if that wasn't bad enough he gave it to me in quid coins (that's actually a lie, he did give me a 5 quid note).

So yeah, absolute gash. Going to blast over to my parent's near Swindon and get it* done at Fish Brothers, can somebody please have a positive word to say about them? Please?

*edit: future servicing/parts etc

Fish Brothers Renault is where a lot of us get parts from. Renaut Parts Direct. No idea about servicing. Why not go to Mark Fish Motorsports based in Harlow. Its not too far from you.

cheers 2hot (can I call you 2hot? I think we've reached that stage in our relationship now), quite tempting to ditch main dealers entirely

And ohshit, I just increased Ilford's rating, sorry about that!

The main dealers are feckin piss takers. I personally think that the people at Renault Sport should ditch all their fancy organised track days, WRS and other so called commitments and sort the bloody horrific state of their branches out in the uk. Its so bad in Northampton that when myself and Amy were looking at a new car for the awaited little'un, they weren't even interested in showing me around and selling me a new 200. And that was with the vee parked outside so they knew I wasn't tyre kicking. Sod em! Its a real shame, as the french dealerships look completly the opposite.

 Yeah you can call me that. Its a lot better than what some of the others have called me on here  I popped into there yesterday to have a chat with one of the guys in there and he says quite a few vees have been in there lately [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Waters in St Albans has now closed down some dodgy fraud or something was going on there allegedly. So you got three great options, Mark Fish, Fish Brothers and naturally Scott @Sg Motorsports.

I took my Ren 5 GTT into Renault Ilford years back. I dropped the car off and then went into some nasty little cafe up the road before catching a bus home. I was sitting in the window and I heard a squeeling and saw my little 5 spinning off up the road with some scuzz bag grease monkey driving it.

Was not impressed. Went and took the car back straight away and that was the end of my little skit with dealerships.

Renault Ilford is now no longer. It got closed down as part of cutbacks. Can be taken off dealer list. Only reason I know is cos they owed me a free MOT and went to confirm a booking and the the number just rang and rang. Great customer service haha!

Ps for my 1.6 not the vee!

For the departed:
:violin:

A terrible loss for everybody in east London and beyond who used to seek out Renault East due to its outstanding reputation for quality. The oily seat covers wasn't the end of it with the good guys over at Renault East (god rest their soul), parking cars next to the pressure washer ensuring a delightful calcium-smeared finish on collection really helped to cement their reputation as the finest Renault main dealer within a quarter mile radius of Ilford town centre.

This must be what losing a loved one must feel like!

:salut:

The irony here is that this poor level of customer service and quality is likely to have contributed to the closure of the franchise when Renault or the parent company reviewed its continued viability. As with any business profits and reputation are eroded if customer service and quality is poor - this is what companies/business (big and small) need to understand ... WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND ...

The strange thing is I went to Renault St. Albans (great customer service - franchised dealer called Waters) and they closed down due to fraud in parent company I believe. Renault Ilford have closed down as well. Angelworks closed down. Jaytek closed down. A pattern seems to be emerging!! Got the free MOT from Renault Romford .... wonder if they will close down next!!
