WARNING - RENAULT ILFORD!!

No I haven't spoken to trading standards. I didn't think of that to be honest.

I had another call from Renault customer care yesterday to tell me there is nothing more they can do for me. (Not that they have done anything in the first place!)

Apparantly it is a dealership issue. They have spoken with them but Renault Ilford dispute any wrong doing and they therefore have no choice but to take their word for it.

It's a load of bullsh*t! I'm not going to win this battle and I can't waste anymore time talking to these idiots - they just stress me out and make me so angry!! :livid:

They have lost my custom and hopefully a few other vee owners would be put off going there...!

Lucy J,
Please dont let them get away with it. If they cannot fix a Renault car then they do not deserve to have a Renault franchise
Write to Renault again, contact your local Trading Standards but dont give up otherwise they will do it again to another unsuspecting customer.

Cold Fusion.

Told my twin about Lucy's problems with Renault Ilford from last year. Coinincidently last week he clocked up 15 miles from Redbridge Roundabout up M11 to Loughton (first possible turnoff) and back to Redbridge Roundabout by accident cos of new road markings on the A12 approach to the roundabout. A406 Ilford to redbridge is only 3 miles, hence Renault Ilford to Loughton and back 15 + 3 + 3 =21 miles! QED Thank you and goodnight:)

there should be a warning list for all new members to read befor they start vee ownership 1 dont take car to reno dealerships with a list of complaints then you wont get ripped of. just a suggestion for james and team who do a sterlin job anyway keeping members up to date with new developments :approve:

I'll get something added to the Knowledge base.

Buyer beware
Main dealers tend to be more expensive.
They are noted in some cases to care for your v6 less than an independent specialist.
Some horror stories come from using main dealers.
There are so few v6s main dealers don't get the chance to work on these cars.

Plus points
Your car can have a fully recorded main dealer service history. Which some owners prefer.
Main dealers can (if pushed hard enough) offer good discounts on genuine parts, in some cases the main dealers will beat prices of independents.
Loan cars are more often available from a main dealer.
Warranty work must be carried out by a main dealer.
Some horror stories come from using so called specialists (be careful who you choose)
By using a main dealer you are supporting the Renault brand (which some owners feel strongly about)

is this not what I said last year?

21 miles = A406 (junction right next door to Renault East London), M11 to Loughton junction and back again!

It was written to prove the mileage you said lol! Thats what QED meant:) (mathematical term for proving true a previous result) Sorry I should have quoted your post mate. Ps I am just a complete nerd when it comes to mileages cos of work claims! When i mentioned your 21 to my twin he then said his 15 mile round trip i just had to work it all out so sad arent I! 64 to clacton, 50 far side of colchester, 45 near side of colchester, 33 southend, 10 brentwood, 5 to m11, 10 to O2 arena, 25 to wembley stadium, 230 to old trafford, 130 to villa, 110 to portsmouth, 45 braintree via m11 a120, 75 to margate, 110 norwich, 280 liverpool, sad sad sad:( 2.5 to Renault Ilford ...... on second thoughts forget that last one wont be needed!

Following on from what Ray said, James can we not have an unofficial list of 'approved' places (main dealers and independents) but with no liablity (in case things do go wrong!). Just so as forum users and vee owners we can have a fair idea of who we can 'trust'. Rather than 'who not to go to' do it the other way around. Ps I have total respect for what you do for us on this forum AND the club itself. You are a top bloke  Or maybe start a thread of where people get their cambelts done (and/or services) in a vote fashion (and were happy with the service). BEN @ ANGELWORKS, SGMOTORSPORTS etc etc. Would be interesting to see ....

Nas I was thinking just along the lines that you've mentioned. I'm determined to come up with some sort of visual guide which is quick and useful (minus any libel). This forum section is of course searchable should anyone need to delve into the detailed opinions. ;)

Our "Found a v6?" feedback form is used by many, so I have a plan in mind. ;)

How about listing all of the UK Renault dealers.. followed after each dealer, have a thumbs up or thumbs down icon. Click on the 'thumb' to open up user/customer comments ad to their experience. Possibly even click on the dealer to pull down address's and contact number.
Would this be the same for specialists? I think this would need further consideration tbh. Perhaps just a popularity chart or graph.

I'll try and do it over the weekend James..
You'll need to pm me your postal address, so i can pop the drawings etc in the post to you.

[smilie=icon_eek.gif] hpoe u get this sorted and ur hard ernt cash back [smilie=doubt.gif] good luk :approve: :race:

Thanks Ray!
The customer care was shocking. The only thing they would offer me was a 20% discount off my next service.... needless to say they can stick that where the sun doesn't shine and the car has never been back to them!

Thanks to this forum  The next coil that went I actually changed myself!!

Lucy I got another horror story for you if Ben hasnt told you already. We put my twins 1.6 into Ben cos we thought had to change the clutch thinking the clutch had had it since it kept slipping. No the problem was the crap cambelt change Renault did and it was leaking oil on to the gearbox and hence the clutch kept slipping! Plus something had fallen off the engine into the another part of the car and the consequences disasterous if we hadnt of got the car to Ben. The engine was almost out of oil as a consequence! I know he should check it regularly but he dont and dont ask why! Anyway just another Renault Ilford cowboy job. Ps saw you car today and you should get new no. plates ... why? Cos it had Renault Ilford on them! I will even go halves on new plates at the Halfords up the High Road with ya just to get rid of them off your car! Deal?

Oh and Renault Ilford put the wrong fluid in my V6! Ben knows what they did I cant remember. Mix up on gearbox oil or brake fluid or something. I am so glad I took my vee to Ben. Renault Ilford ... where is that machine gun emoticon lol! Take care and lets forget about Renault Ilford cos I know its no good for your blood pressure!

Hi Nas,
Yeah Ben did tell me the horror stories and the botch jobs on both yours and your brothers cars!
Bloody shocking to be honest. They even got the most basic of jobs wrong. I really do worry about the "training" the cowboy mechanics have had that work there.
I think that's 3 cars that will never be going there again for any work!!!

I actually went to try and get new number plates from Halfords at Chadwell Heath last year. Not because they had Renault Ilford on them but because the black writing is so faded from the sun!
When I went though Halfords had no material in stock to make number plates in that size!!! Lol i've never heard that before. They did tell me I could have them made up in a bike style instead!!! :s

To be honest I still haven't bothered getting new ones made as I haven't had the car for the last 6 months... infact 2 weeks ago was the first time I have even laid eyes on it since November! ....But feel free to go halves with me on new ones!!! ;)
