NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER TAKE YOUR VEE TO RENAULT ILFORD!!
A couple of weeks ago I had a another coil go in the engine. I took it back to the above dealers and they diagnosed coil number 2 had gone. While they were fixing this I agreed to a new set of spark plugs. As some of you will have read (on another thread) they broke my breather pipe while fitting these new plugs but wouldn't take responsibility for it. They didn't have a new pipe in the UK so ordered one which was a wait of up to 10 days.
In the meantime I went down to collect a courtesy car and had a chat with the mechanic who told me it wasn't coil number 2 it was number 5 he replaced.
I picked the car up last thursday and this little visit cost me £650.
Oh and by the way the dealership had managed to put 21 miles on the clock while it was under their care????!!!!
I only had a couple of miles to drive it home and it was in rush hour traffic all the way so couldn't get to "test" how the car was running as such! It felt "strange" to drive but I put this down to stepping out of a 1.2 courtesy car and in to a vee again.
Last night was the first time going out in since getting it back and I was very surprised to find that they hadn't fixed it at all.
When I start it, I get the engine management light flickering for a while but this stops once you start to drive it. You can clearly hear it is a cylinder down as it sounds like a tractor and you can smell the unburnt petrol.
I phoned them today and told them I think they have changed the wrong coil seeing as they diagnosed 2 and changed 5. They said they were looking at the notes the other day and it did cross there mind that had happened!!!! Yet no phone call to tell me this.
I asked if they test drove the car before giving it back and the answer was: "NO, they only drove it round the dealership carpark/workshop". I then put the question to them: "how did you manage to do 21 miles in my car driving it round the car park??" Answer: "i'll have to have a look at the work sheets maybe they did test drive it but that should have been 5 to 6 miles". My Reply: Well it sounds to me like someone has been out having some fun in my car which I don't appreciate. I am still awaiting a phone call back with an explanation and an answer as to what they are going to do to put the car right. If I call them the manager is "in a meeting all day" and the other muppet is constantly on the phone!!
Another complaint will be going into Renault Customer care today but I would just like to warn everyone that this dealership is an absolute joke. I do not trust them and will do my best never to take my car to them again. They do not take any special care of your car and seem to think they can do what they want with it while it's in their hands.
I am really concerned now as I've heard it should not really be driven with a knackered coil as the unburnt fuel can cause problems with the cat?? Is this true??
I'm so angry that renault have driven it 21 miles if this is the case as I don't want a bill for a new cat from their mistake.
I'm so tempted to take the car back down there and leave in blocking the entrance/exit until they actually fix it!! Surely that will make them pull their finger out their @rse..............!

P.S - Sorry if this is full of spelling mistakes and doesn't make sense! - or I have posted it in the wrong area! Just had to vent my frustration somewhere!! Lol
