‘The Clio V6 Legacy’ book 2023, describes how Renault Design had intended to introduce a personalisation programme to the Ph1 which was unveiled at 2001 Geneva Show. The exhibition car and my project (shown) share a remarkable resemblance, albeit I had no prior knowledge of its existence.

Are the springs an upgrade or renewal?

Adrian, this older image describes the situation. Whilst KWs were fitted historically, a previous owner had used longer front springs to assist with ground clearance for the Trophy splitter. The new springs will correct the stance but it may be of detriment to the splitter. We shall see…

Uncanny isn't it! Perhaps the link is the time you spend in that lovely ID phase 2 that gave you a similar chain of thought to the designers. but in reverse!

For the uninitiated, what exactly does one need to focus on to know what is being described here?

I haven't received Duncan's book yet... :(

I guess my narrative might be seen as a teaser for the book (look at the Ph1 personalisation chapter)… but it’s important that I don’t spoil the recipients enjoyment of the read. I will update properly in due course.

The ability to scour the internet for information Pre-2005 is quite fraught. This is why Duncan’s book must’ve has been particularly difficult to piece together.

There is another section which describes an aborted attempt by Renault to increase the powertrain to the V6. Again, this mirrors some of the efforts my inherited project is aiming to achieve succinctly.

Development clutch kit ready to be deployed. We anticipate this project being roadworthy soon… at which point the MoTeC refinement will be commissioned.

Several miscellaneous jobs attended including:
Replacement aircon pipes & pressure switch
Bump steer components fitted
Alignment
Oils/Fliuds

Just MOT and some final cosmetics to go. [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

It’s only taken 9 years! To be fair - most of that was trying to source correct OE body parts and components for my vision. A feat that would be nigh on impossible at this point in time!

Due to a ‘slightly bizarre’ twist of fate, the Vee didn’t make it to v6clio.net stand at Silverstone Festival due to it being parked by a small puddle of brake fluid. Subsequently transpired it was nothing to do with the Vee…

The bespoke interior needed some minor improvements, so GP Customs were really helpful at attending to this. They also found that creating a ‘closed-cell fire-retarding foam’ collar around the cage uprights help seal any engine vapours from entering the cabin.
