V6 Ph1 Clubsport

Those seats are lovely but I really want to try and talk you in to getting that hideous Ph1 steering wheel changed to match :)

I’ve got a sports steering wheel in reserve... I wanted to see how the OE style one worked. I’m on the fence at the moment. Will be good to catch up with you in Silverstone…

Little disappointed with the tired Ph1 bashing put in the above advertorial. However, it was a timely reminder of where Renault set the ‘normally aspirated’ bar with the L7X. I’m looking forward to seeing what is doable with the hardware set up in this car.

This customisation-reversal was fraught with difficulty.
It was very popular for Renaultsport Clio’s to have chunky Mono handbrake covers fitted in the noughties. This Vee was subjected to that treatment. Unfortunately, the original would’ve been cut off with a blade. My preference was to restore to OE as I preferred the dainty original.
The main problem is that they are difficult to acquire and the process is not intuitive. We had to cannibalize a second handle to learn how to replace.

The fire extinguisher needed refilling, but I thought it was easier to replace. In this instance I found an on-theme monochrome replacement (which is still in its protective wrapper until project completion). A red canister would’ve sufficed though. The image also shows the new OE Clio 2 mats. These are not Renaultsport specific, but are quality items and perfectly complement the interior scheme..
