Thank you for your kind support. I can’t express my sheer delight in losing the ‘big old spoiler’. I was hoping this project would evolve alongside yours, however it was not to be.moktabe":17yyazu8 said:I recognise that spoiler :approve:
That certainly looks clean and fresh. :approve:Kett":x82q6wco said:[album]22913[/album]
Looks ‘out-of-this-world’!
Gearbox casing following aqua-blasting.
You get an equally good result with Finish in the dishwasher on these components if you can get it done whilst the wife is out :approve:  Otherwise get an old dishwasher and put it in the workshop :approve:Lankan":241oolao said:That certainly looks clean and fresh. :approve:Kett":241oolao said:[album]22913[/album]

Just pop me a blank cheque over, and i'll sort it![]()
I still think if there was a way to create a Cromodora-style alloy that could offer crossover-model offset inserts - shifting x50 sets would be fairly easy. Might even encourage the V6 Trophy folk to use more often...
That’s a good price. I was quoted £6k+VAT for a one-off set!DaveL485":3eseqr0i said:OK so quick discussion has resulted in:
1)Would need some Trophy wheels to laser scan
2)Wheels would be forged and then CNC machined
3)We could make small mods to the scans to adjust offsets
Approx £2500/set for low volume
Approx £2000/set for ten sets or more
VERY ballpark so they may be swing either way.
This info is based on recently doing the same for another car and the first set have recently arrived for test fit.

Like you say, the offsets would need to be correct for each vehicle:
V6 Trophy
V6 255
V6 230
(Plus I’m not sure whether there’s a V6 230 Ph1.0 and Ph1.5 in terms of optimised rear offset)
The added snag is the complication with VAT on export and potentially legislative issues.

Just needs to be 1)appetite for it and 2)people willing to cough up the money up front and then be patient while its worked on. I never do group buys without the money up front, learned my lesson on that one the hard way!

Surely, the V6 Trophy brigade will be crying out for this. If I were an owner, I’d want x2 sets in an instant.
I have no idea how it would be received by the road car owners… however, I wouldn’t entertain the V6 Trophy offsets on my Ph1. However, with enough fabrication material, the rear alloy could be skimmed to be correct…

DaveL485":1kfuzjcj said:Probably wise to make them with low offsets so owners could machine to suit. It doesnt help having three different offset sets though, plus the different sizes of the front and rear wheels (8J & 9J)
Aluminium density 2.7 gm/cc magnesium 1.74 gm/cc magnesium 65% of aluminium! Huge difference but metallurgically aluminium is far more stable and does not suffer the age hardening and embrittlement of magnesium, also better corrosion resistance. Look at a genuine 1970s Minilite if there is any doubt and remember these had a reasonable percentage of aluminium and other items to improve the alloy. :approve: The replicas will be fine for roadgoing use but not so good for racing where the suspension is set for much lower unsprung weights. :approve: anyone thought of carbon fibre?Kett":23oxchpc said:DaveL485":23oxchpc said:Probably wise to make them with low offsets so owners could machine to suit. FB contributor made a comment about weight. Very valid point and potential deal-breaker.
