Twingo Twingo GT

New to the forum and thought I'd share my build so far. Been a regular on cliosport.net and kept a build thread up to date there. Had few Renaults over the years, a BG 182, dci100 and a couple of 1.2 ph2's. Changed cars recently and an UP GTi or 500 Abarth was considered, then a mate who has had 3 Twingos suggested a GT. So i decided to go for it and build my own warm hatch.

So shes a bit rough, had some paintwork early in its life it seems, but its low mileage and goes well. Ordered B14's before I had collected it....

Fresh top mounts and spring cups. Also ordered some Pro Race 1.2s and 15mm spacers.

Spoke to Chris at EFI about a map and he suggested a FMIC, exhaust and inlet improvements. I should mention Adeys thread here as its been really valuable when deciding what route I'm went myself, his find with the clio tce boost pipe was a gem. So a cheap ebay cooler and pipe kit came to this. I chopped the lower crash bar so the intercooler sat further back and was hidden away.

Got some 172 injectors from someone on cliosport, had them cleaned and flow tested. All came back good with new seals. Also ordered a downpipe from TRW in portugal, took ages to arrive and was a bit sh!t but its fitted and functioning.

So I'm booked into EFI on Tuesday at 1230. Im hoping for as close to 150hp as possible.... GT150 has a nice ring to it. Heres the car.

Awesome stuff, car looks really good too. Has the car got an exhaust fitted or the standard one. Good luck for Tuesday 👍🏻

That's still the standard exhaust. There are no off the shelf options now, all seem to be discontinued. Think I'm going to have a pop at making my own at some point.

It will be interesting to see if the oe system shows as a restriction, I dont think it will be tbh. Really good to see another twingo getting some nice tweaks rather than just the crap kicked out of it in McDonald's car park

Well I was thinking along the same lines tbh, big straight pipe and a rear silencer... Find out on Tuesday. Yeah defo, I'm not sure why they aren't more popular, especially with the 1*2 underpinnings.

Congrats on buying yours back btw! @Adey 😂

Shame its not later in the week or I'd of popped in. I'm heading up that way weds eve for a few days. Cant wait to see the results, mine was mapped with the cat in place so you should, all being well net a bit more than me

Ah gutted . I originally had it planned in for the 3rd but work got in the way, turned out to be a good thing though as the downpipe showed up. In honesty, I'd be over the moon if it made 150hp, just hope it all goes to plan. Got a boot full of tools, hose clips, bits of boost pipe etc should anything decide to act up.

Keep thinking I've got a boost leak somewhere, getting an odd noise at WOT. But all the clamps and hoses haven't budged. Seal over the turbo is good too, I might just be a bit dyno para lol.

a solid 150 would be a good figure. do you plan on getting it out and about on track too?

what sort of noise is it you are getting?

Yeah keen to get a tracknight or two done at knockhill come the better weather. Still got the brakes to visit.

Sounds like air passing a seal, but im not sure if its just noise the car makes after changing so much of the inlet/intercooler. Doesn't help that the big daft cone filter makes loads of noise too. I'm going to go over it all again tonight or tomorrow night and double check things.

Car is driving fine and according to the OBD app, boost levels are fairly settled when at full throttle in gear. Although it does range from 5.5psi to 6.5psi dependant on gear.

standard they have a little over boost function on them too, cant remember the details of it but its for a certain amount of time to help overtaking. The open filter makes loads of noise, it could be the recirc valve possibly? if it was leaking a little you might get a noise and the car would push the turbo a little harder to give you the same boost levels.

@Aldo what time are you booked in tomorrow? any joy on the funny noise front?

Booked in at 1230, should be there for about 11ish to swap the injectors over. Yeah it seems to have disappeared, good shout on the recirc valve 👍. It worth fitting the forge replacement item?
