TRW1 Progress Report

Im not mechanically minded so can someone explain to me the bonnet cut out? How does it help with the cooling if the engine is at the back...what am i missing?

Great update by the way, Hope to see it in the flesh one day! :approve:

Cheers guys

The cut out allows all the hot air from the back of the radiator to escape instead of being trapped under the bonnet. The efficiency of the radiator is improved as a result and the data from Mark's backs this up.
It's the same reason for all the holes and the fan in the tailgate......getting cold air flow into the engine bay is part of the problem for the heat in there but when it can escape as well it makes a big difference to the temps even after thrashing it around for a while...

:approve: Thanks for explaining pal, makes sense now

Fantastic Tim :-)

Really liking the dash and console aswell as the carbon air-vents at the corner of the roll cage are a brilliant touch including some carbon detailing :approve:

If thats in the passenger side pod (the one responsible for taking in cool air in a standard v6) where does yours draw air from buddy?

From the roof (vent)

Tim (TRW1) I firmly believe we both deserve some kind of reward to reflect the patience/tenacity we've had to demonstrate :-)

I suspect, like me, when you hear the "be ready in 4 weeks" statement you actually think "ok that's another year to wait then". I bet there's always a good reason why x timescale has not been achieved:

1) x supplier did not provide part y in the time they said
2) Customer x is a racer and really, really needed a new tinted logo on their windscreen
3) The doo dah that controls the finkle mister needs a new bit which will be here tomorrow
4) I phoned Renault but they didn't even know they'd sold a v6 so I can't find x part without buying it from a nomadic tribe of Patagonian natives who only walk into town once every 3rd Wednesday during the warm season
5) Well if you'd turned up tomorrow it would have been all done but the other guy helping out has a cat which he brought from a bloke who's mother has just been to a wedding of her 3rd cousin so you can understand I've been a bit busy today
6) Thing is Maclaren called, turns out Gordon has to go back to, well I shouldn't tell you this but he's not exactly "native", Saturn - the good news is he should bring back some Jovian fairy dust which we'll coat your new liners with and will give you at least +50bhp, increase MPG by 100% and result in only flowers flowing from your exhaust

Sound far fetched - I've head some of these :-)
