TRW1 Progress Report

Have you noticed any difference in how yours feels Simon? Had a chance to go on track? I found the splitter/spoiler combo gives more stability at speed, hopefully this will take it up another level and increase the grip further.....

Im a chef????? [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I know but I'm frightened of what the hourly rates are for a chef at your level......these pies need to offer value for money.

This is brilliant - it can really go over a whole cow???????

Is there a button on the dash to lift the splitter just before arriving at the cow - they can really cover everything with those can bus wiring systems!

Does the button have "cow" or "steak" written on it?
Is it like one of those missile arming buttons and you shout "Cow 3" when you hit it like in Independence Day?
How cool is that!

If you can make the diffuser width adjustable and the flame heat variable you'll get a Michelin star with Tims help!

If Tim could follow with an adjustable height splitter covered in foil there'd be no need to stop!

Totally barbequetastic!

Keep the ideas rolling in Mike.....just got off the phone with Scott, he's costing it. Steve says it's all doable with the latest software version from MoTeC........They're going to test some prototype stuff on the sidecars at the Isle of Man.....rabbits all over the place there.

I hope you're keeping the standard carpets on this classic Tim?

And don't forget to detail the glovebox lock properly - you know you forgot last time and I'm not buying any more tissues!
;)

The difusor is overkill imo! :( But still a very special car!

To be fair there's not much about the car that isn't overkill if it were just a road car....but it's built for competition and is all about function.
Hopefully it'll be a lot of fun.

The car has a purpose and it's bonkers. Accepting that, even a 4ft satellite dish on the roof wouldn't look out of place. (might slow it down a bit though) :)

What class is it going to be run in mate? (Naive question...But how do you know the difusor will work...)

You said you were doing all this to make room for the monthly shop!!

Racing indeed - what's the world coming too!!!!

Next thing you know you'll have one of those nasty noisy exhaustive things fitted!

The intention is to do sprints and hillclimbs.

As for the diffuser, it will work as it is part of a complete setup for the underside of the car starting at the front with a splitter that is low enough and far enough forward to force air fast beneath the car ( there will be a bigger, wider carbon addition that bolts up under the Trophy splitter that I will use when on track ).....new flat undertrays keep it moving smoothly to the back where the upward sweep creates low pressure and grip.
Now without windtunnel testing and computer models it's fair to say that this probably won't be the absolute optimum setup in terms of lengths and heights and angles but it will certainly provide extra downforce. It is created by someone who has coniderable experience building quick race cars, but the basic principles are staightforward.

You've only got to look at F1 last year to see how some diffusers are more effective than others, even with millions spent on development.....but even the less good ones still help those cars to go round corners at incredible speeds. (as part of an overall aero package)

Once the car is finished and I can start testing I'm sure there will be changes made in various areas as we go.

The car will also still make the occasional Tesco run Mike....

Been a long while since any news...........
Just had lots of painting done, panels, airbox, window pods, bonnet and the chassis where we had been chopping things about.
Lots of little brackets have been anodised or powder coated and the car is now being rebuilt for the final time.
The motor should be off any day now for the engine loom.
A few pics.

Got 2 sets of these.....standard 17" in black with 255/40/17 rear and 225/45/17 front, Proxes R888 on both.

Bonnet looks great and paintwork is all refreshed. Makes a big difference to the cooling as seen on Mark's rally car.

Geartronics paddleshift is really nice kit. Had to adapt a bracket for the ram which mounts on the gearbox but the standard stick shift will also work depending on mode selected.

The accumulator sits nice and close to the ram so that keeps the lines short. Brackets will all be painted of course.

Inside, you can see the development of the centre console. This is now all made up in carbon and the steering column is painted black.

Will probably add one of these as the airbox will obscure most of the rear view.

Better pics to come as the build progresses.

Thanks for taking the time to update on this fantastic project Tim! Hope to be able to have a sneek peek at it in a week or two ;) Great work.. mucho respect to you!
