Thinking of selling

Hi all

So after nearly 15 years of my vee. I am considering a sale. As some of you will know, I'm the 1st owner and its now done around 9800 miles. Last year it just came out for Mot then back in the garage. This year its the same, with the exception of 4 new Michelin tyres + front discs & pads.

Next year I plan to get the cam belt done for the second time. The only reason for sale is simply the fact I just don't use it - moving other cars getting my wheelchair in & out of each is a pain. I know somebody else will love and enjoy it just as I have. This car is hugely sentimental to me and its actually the last thing I drove using my legs and the accident where I broke my neck as a day after taking delivery.

Its all original apart from the Recaro trendlines (trimmed in colours to match the OE seats), piper cross filter & a stainless exhaust (cant exactly remember which one its been on there so long). Otherwise the hand controls will be removed if it goes for the right money before anyone takes it away.

Obviously Im in no rush at all on this, more so I just thought Id ask what people think its worth?

It's been an interesting journey with the car over the last 14 years ( and just to clarify the big accident wasn't in the Vee !) and always a pleasure to look at in the garage but if it's not now getting driven due to other toys to play with then yes time to let someone else enjoy it. Your Phase 2 in black gold with the subtle mods of seats and exhaust and less than 10k miles has to be worth £40k to a collector considering £60k has recently been achieved by Cheshire Sport Classics for a black one with 1k miles and £25k last week at auction for a silver ph1 with 50k miles!
Best to try the dealers who have sold these low mileage vees first I guess.

Ive had a couple of private messages of interest but nobody has tempted me into actually selling the car yet. Maybe the summer coming might make the difference, or make me realise I don't want to sell after all.....

It took me a year to decide to sell, my problem was it became painful to drive but i did not want to see it go. my wife actually sold it when i was unconscious in hospital (with my blessing) so not so much of a heart wrench. my decision was based on being fed up with playing musical cars when i wanted to drive it so always took the one in front, this was usually the transit! Slow and comfy.
A lot to choose from with £40k-£50k.

Similar with me, its in the double garage next to my Triumph Stag. To get to it Id need to move my BMW on the drive out of the way, then the Stag before getting to the Vee, all of that involves getting my wheelchair in and out of each car if Im home alone. If home with someone getting to the vee is much easier to get to but then getting two people and a wheelchair in it is a different challenge!

If the Vee went Id but my wifes mk1 TT 240 sport in the garage instead - I cant drive that anyway as its not adapted.

If I wanted to drive something fast and mid engined, I would take the Transit too. DFV engined of course

Hi all

Its nearly a year since I started this thread and I don't think I've even sat in the car, my wife has started it a couple of times, otherwise it sits plugged to a trickle charger. So I think its time to say goodbye and let someone else love this mega low milage BG ph2. A couple of people here have PMed me already.

all messages of interest greatly received but this car will not be going if I don't get a sensible offer....

Hi all,

Its finally happened.... The car is sold. Its gone to a safe home to somebody here. He did post a thread saying he wanted a black Ph2 a short time ago and I doubt there are many other one owner sub 10k milers out there. So a deal was done that we were both happy with. The car was collected by SG covered wagon this morning to go have belts etc done before it heads to its new home.

Its been an absolute pleasure being here over the years. You guys rock, so much help and info is held between you all. But sadly the car became too hard for me to deal with and if I'm honest it hasn't been easy to live with for the last 15 years! Wheelchairs and vees were never destined to be good partners.

The garage space is now taken by my wife Audi TT 240 qs but we may sell that and get an E30 BMW Alpina or 325i Sport auto (so I can drive it) if the right one came along.

IAN, you’ve been a complete inspiration with your ‘kick ass’ ability to achieve. You’re absolutely right that the Vee was wholly unsuitable, however - you still made it happen. Duncan should feature your Vee in a ‘Special Projects’ epilogue for his long-awaited V6 book...

Additionally, I’ve always enjoyed reading your motoring fables (particularly the Alpina). Don’t be a stranger - keep us updated with your adventures.

Trust me I could waffle for many hours about all things cars, from my apprenticeship in a small Rover dealership watching my mentor working under bonnets on carburettors with a cigarette in his mouth to Honda PR days having dinner wit Sir Sterling Moss & Damon Hill, going to the premier of Snatch the movie with Kelly Brooke & Jason Statham (I supplied Kelly a car at the time) and all that long before I broke my neck. There are plenty of stories I could tell linked to that too.

I took this photo today now my garage doesn't have a Clio in it anymore. The Germans have taken over, they had there towels in the garage & carport as soon as they heard the Clio was going.
