5 GT Turbo The winter project. EFI and lots more

Good point Dave...
We have to run a 25mm adadptor to get over the compressor housing.
I wasn't keen on the union as seemed very thin. I put it in with liquid ptfe and just nipped it up and all was good. Cars was probably running for around 2 hours before we noticed a tiny leak, soon as I touched it started to wobble and knew it had broke.
The second one, the rolling road guy fitted that and leaked straigt away and as soon as he tightened it, it snapped.
Going to fit a banjo and extend the feed now.

Exactly, that's why going to change it.
Never had any issues in the past, think its the union but wont be taking any chances.

Banjo for the win, and try and retain the feed pipe as much as possible to stop it vibrating/shaking and take the hanging weight off the turbo end.

Strange has it been over tightened?? I use 3 fittings to clear my compressor cover and dont have any issues. Mine are all aeroquip too.

Try and bracket the flexi part of the pipe... the flexible parts shake/vibrate and in turn make the end of the union where it joins the solid bit do the same, and that acts as a lever on the union at the turbo. All of the vibration and shake in the pipe is effectively concentrated on the last bit that has any flex. The longer the unbracketed sections of pipe, the more vibration and leverage it has on the solid ends. If that were mine i'd P-clip the flexi bit and bracket the oil filter to something.

Thanks,
We are all done for this year now, so all coming out for a refresh.
When we put it all back, will look at some clips.

Update on the new turbo....
A very wet Silverstone, the AO21's couldn't cope. Wheelspinning in 4th gear coming out of corners was no fun.
Car felt very strong and certainly quick once it hooked up. Shame we couldn't give it a proper run in the dry on some decent rubber.
2016 is looking promising :)

I found the a048's epic in the dry better than r888 to be honest? Can you use proper wets for inclement conditions?

AO48's all the way, so good right from the start. Medium on the front and softs on the rear is a good combo.
I had to run 888's in a series and hated them, started to work half way through the season!!!!!!!!!
No competition tyres allowed. we have to slip around on road tyres. Not good.

What's the talk in the paddock regarding the MSA redoing the tyre lists? On the hills the road going classes are up in arms that they can only tyres in list 1a or 1b from 2016.
At the moment I am lucky that I am in mod prod which can use 1c which for me is 048s in soft.

I just bought a set of Kumho's off a hill racer. Hes not impressed with the new rules......
We was told our series is going to allow the 1c tyres. so everyone's ok, I hope it does not change. wouldn't want to use anything on 1a or 1b.

It seems at present most circuit series are still allowing 1c,
A problem I will have is when the existing stocks of e marked 1c are gone or re marked then I will have to use a 1b tyre as I drive to events.
