Looking pretty fantastic compared with the item that I originally collected from you 12 months ago!! Can't see any defects in the photos (other than aforementioned scabby plates!!) even the front bin looks immaculate, so an absolute credit to you now!! Just don't polish it too much otherwise you will be scared to drive it which defies the whole objective!!

Retro Rides this weekend just gone, they very kindly waived the pre-98 rule for the Vee and let me on the club stand and on the hill in the morning. It got loads of attention and I almost lost my voice rabbiting to people about it, so left with a real feelgood factor

I was invited to the NEC Classic Car Show by the Renault Owners Club, so off we went. I did take the black plates off to put the standard ones back on just for @andybond but the front one has vanished out of the boot so the black ones went back on. Happy to report that after 3 days of being sat within the range of the general public there is no damage or parts missing

V6 looked really well, indoor shows can very cruel on paintwork, but it seems pretty flawless, a credit to whoever did it.
It's an excellent show, there's something for everyone, a long forgotten gem always pops up as well, this year a Fiat 127 Sport, makes a change from usual.

Yeah it's a fab job for the price I paid, mates rates ++ and then some. There is one small reaction on the bonnet smaller than a 5p piece but you need to know it's there to see it. I didnt see it at all until my detailer pointed it out! As the paint job orchestrator @rustedandrotten pointed out if you look down the sides of the car it's so smooth, no ripples or anything in the fibreglass which normally there is. It's a really fantastic job and well worth the round trip to Aberdeen where it was painted (i'm from Coventry!)

Unfortunately I have picked up two very small, and one medium small stone chips on the front bumper, and a savage scar on the NSR bumper where it touched the edge of a breeze block wall - I was fuming with myself as my stop-block in the garage had moved and I had my bike on the engine cover so i couldnt see out the back and was relying on the stop - just caught the edge of a breeze block pillar. Paint reparations are on the to-do list, along with discs and pads, wheel centre caps, sideskirt/sill stickers (that cover the screw heads) and that should then take me up to the cambelt change in a year or so.

The last couple of times driving the Vee I have noticed a bit of a crankcase smell hanging around, and then on my last drive a wisp of smoke out the sidepods, so I thought it best to investigate. Took all the trim off over the engine, then the inlet manifold.



Had to take the drivers seat out too to access the front bank properly, which revealed...



Looks like a weeping rocker cover is dropping a little oil down on to the cat heatshield....that would be the smelly smell then.
It was straight forward enough to razz out the rocker cover bolts, clean and re-seal it. You cant get gaskets for the covers by the look of it, you have to buy new covers (which are also NLA), so it was a good clean and refit with a smear of Reinzosil.

All good, sealed with no leaks now, sounding on point!
