The 1957 Dope Dauphine

Well it looks better, and it is quieter, so 2 out of 3 ain't bad, might be up a couple of bhp in the middle, would be very interesting to see what the dyno said, is he a good mate?? Will he get fed up quickly.......

hes already messaged to get it back on soon (y)

Also got underneath it and fitted the gear linkage bushes, feels nice and a lot less raw and mechanical vs solid mounted shifter. I haven't driven far but it should stop it banging out of gear on heavy bumps (y)

I know that it is kinda against your principles to throw cash about, but a gr4 Escort steering coupling makes a good 4 speed connector as it allows for movement without any lost motion as there is no slack in the coupling

I'll take a look, though I spent a whole £25 on the replacement oem style bushes, for that outlay they now need to be fitted for at least 25 years in my book 😁😅

We used to upgrade these to mini exhaust mounts but you have to drill the holes up to 5/16 or 8mm they were easier to get and much cheaper, but they don't last as the gear oils attack the rubber like with the originals. Hence the Escort coupling with needle roller bearings

Insurance sorted through Lancaster who i always tend to use for the old cars, service seems great and always there for any questions. They beat their own renewal quote and added an agreed valuation. I've added this on this time round as actually replacing it wouldn't be too easy. Mods, SDP+C fully comp and 6k value for £105 for the year.

I'll need to look into this for this year. Used to have the cars through Peter Best. Think I'm gonna wait to see if there is anything happening first
